Creating Photo Books from Google Photos

Creating Photo Books from Google Photos

The main reason why online photo book builders became so popular (aside from the seemingly endless customization options) is the fact that you don’t need to collect your pictures from all your different devices again. Basically you just have to connect one of your social media accounts to the photo book creator and fetch the photos stored thereon, whether you use the photo book builder from a desktop or a mobile device.

And although Google Photos is definitely not as popular as Facebook or Instagram, you can still use this online storage as the base of your newest photo book.

How common is importing from Google Photos?

The biggest concern when it comes to using Google Photos to build a photo book is that most of the photo book companies consider it less important than Facebook, Instagram, Flickr or in some mysterious cases, the often ridiculed Google+. Therefore, direct integration with Google Photos is often not offered (except for the companies below), meaning you have to download those photos to your computer and then upload them again to the photo book builder – an extra step you’d rather avoid.

Exporting Google Photos

Since this is the more wide-spread solution of photo book companies, we have no choice but to talk about this method anyway. Thankfully, the process itself is brutally simple, especially if you use a mobile device (running on Android) that automatically uploads photos made with a phone/tablet to your Google Photos storage. (You can still upload photos manually, though.) Once you go to your Google Photos account you just have to select certain pictures or entire albums for downloading as a ZIP file, which, after extraction, is ready to be simply uploaded to your photo book builder. Speaking of photo book builders, using Google Photos is mandatory if the program underperforms regarding photo adjustment options: Google’s photo storage is capable of applying 12 effects on the pictures, excluding the automatic enhancement option.

Importing photos from Google Photos

Like we said before, this is quite a rare option; in fact, it is so rare that only a few selected photo book companies allow users to upload their pictures to the work-in-progress photo book/album directly from Google Photos. Still, Mixbook and Picaboo can provide Google Photos integration to anyone who prefers this method. However, if we want to cheat a bit, AdoramaPix can do the integration as well, albeit with Google+ (that can store the same pictures as Google Photos) and without the option to adjust the pictures.

Speaking of said method, if you know how importing pictures from Facebook or Instagram works, then you know all the steps of fetching your Google Photos pictures from your Google account. You give permission to the photo book builder to connect to Google, after which you just have to simply upload the selected photos or albums to the photo book builder’s own storage.
