MetroFax presents an intriguing blend of features that cater to a wide range of users seeking efficient communication, from individuals to businesses of all sizes. However, most importantly, the provider prioritizes the user experience – sending and receiving faxes couldn’t be more straightforward.

This level of convenience is carried across all functions of the software. For instance, all faxes can be organized into custom-made folders, moved to the trash, or left in the default Inbox folder.

There’s also no need to worry about filling up the account with excessive fax messages since MetroFax provides unlimited, encrypted storage for all its customers for as long as their subscription holds.

If you don’t want extra folders, the provider offers the option to add tags to certain faxes – helpfully turning them into searchable items that are easily located. This is all handled in MetroFax’s search bar, which can find faxes based on the recipient, fax number, or anything in particular.

MetroFax does, however, still have room for improvement as it doesn’t support electronic signatures nor allow for scheduling fax pages.

Sending and Receiving Faxes

To make faxing as hassle-free as possible, MetroFax offers plenty of different ways to send and receive faxes. Incoming faxes are sent to the account’s default email address, but there is the option to also have those messages sent to up to five different addresses at the same time.

The opposite is also true, with it being possible to determine which of the five email addresses will appear as the sender on the recipient’s end.

Although faxing via email is highly convenient, sending faxes via fax numbers comes with its own advantages – users can add 50 recipients at the same time and attach up to 10 documents or 20MB of data in total.

There’s also the added benefit of MetroFax supporting various files types. Plus, users are even able to speed up the sending time by lowering the quality of the fax, should they wish.

The web and mobile interfaces of MetroFax are as minimalist as a fax manager could be. Sending, receiving and viewing faxes is extremely easy, while customizable folders and the option to tag and search for faxes just further increases the overall usability.

Additionally, MetroFax is capable of importing contacts from various different lists from CSV files and email platforms. The same works on mobile devices, as the simple-to-use app uses the contact lists of both the device and the account, while still keeping them both separated.

The app itself is fairly intuitive and acts as a pocket-size version of the browser platform, with some added extras. It’s possible to attach documents via the device’s cloud storage and receive push notifications for incoming faxes.

Getting Started

As is the case for any cloud-based solution, the creation and setup of a MetroFax account is fast and easy. With no installation fee, the service is ready to use as soon as the account is created.

The only elements that need to be brought in manually are the contact list and any extra email addresses for sending and receiving faxes. However, all this can be done in a matter of seconds. It’s also important to note that physical fax machines cannot be integrated into the system.

MetroFax’s selection of available fax numbers is restricted, as only American and Canadian numbers can be purchased. However, the limitations stop right there. MetroFax offers local, toll-free, and true-800 numbers to U.S. users, and a selection of locations inside Canada for subscribers to choose from.

Although it’s also possible to port over a fax number to MetroFax, the only way to do it is by contacting the MetroFax team and using a temporary fax number while the request is being processed.

To make the deal even sweeter, MetroFax provides a 3-day free trial of the platform. With no need to pay a single dime while trying out the service, MetroFax is able to offer a truly risk-free experience for those testing the software.

Nonetheless, some extra charges can occur. Beyond the allotted amount in the chosen package, additional faxes cost $0.03 per page. It’s important to keep in mind that MetroFax only supports Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards, and so all payments must come from those gateways.

Customer support is one area that requires improvement. With no 24/7 agents, and support being limited to email inquiries and a toll-free phone number, responses can take a while.

However, the quality of the support provided by MetroFax’s team compensates for this. The support proved itself to be useful and informative for every question we had.

Other support forms can be found in the knowledge base of the provider. Detailed FAQ, demos, and YouTube tutorials are within arm’s reach. On top of this, users can contact MetroFax via its social media pages.

A convenient addition is the option to send suggestions to the company once logged into the account, in order to help the continued improvement of the service.

Bottom Line

All in all, MetroFax delivers an affordable and reliable solution for those seeking efficient communication via fax.

MetroFax’s versatile sending methods and attachment options combined with its intuitive interface make sending and receiving faxes a hassle-free process. With convenience in mind, tags and customizable folders make organizing and searching for specific faxes an easier task.

Furthermore, the prices starting at only $9.96 per month and 3-day free trial of the platform are the icing on the cake. Users can test out the platform completely risk free and see for themselves everything MetroFax has to offer.

While there’s still room for more comprehensive and advanced features, such as scheduling and e-signatures, it’s clear that MetroFax is committed to providing an accessible and secure faxing solution for everyone.

  1. Don’t do it! If you sign up with them and take a MetroFax number, they won’t release it for porting under any circumstances. You are stuck either changing your number with every single customer you have or paying for another line. I suddenly needed HIPPA-compliance and they don’t have it. They tried to send me to eCorporate to pay 4xs the industry standard for HIPPA-compliant fax instead. They won’t release it and it’s a nightmare.

  3. Stephanie Schiro-Gordon

I signed up a year and 8 months ago and the first year everything worked fine. I renewed last November and this has been the worse service ever! Faxes do not go thru about 90% of the time. Their customer service is pathetic and of no help. I regret renewing with them and would warm away anyone considering their service. I am canceling the service today.

  4. I have been using metrofax for 2 years. I just cancelled 4 accounts with them as they “upgraded” there system and in reality it was a DOWNGRADE. They removed features and services. They are RUDE on the phone. They no longer offer 24/7 support as there website suggest. They won’t give a refund. They are the worst of the services.
