NordPass Personal stands out as an accessible and user-friendly password manager, providing a convenient solution for storing, organizing, and securing sensitive information in a single location.

With a strong emphasis on privacy with the implementation of end-to-end xChaCha20 encryption, NordPass emerges as a trustworthy and secure option for those seeking to enhance their online security.

Due to its experience in the VPN industry with NordVPN, Nord Security knows well the dangers lurking in all corners of the internet. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the company opted for zero-knowledge architecture, making it impossible for anyone to access information saved in a vault that’s not their own. What’s more, NordPass comes with a password generator that goes up to 60 characters, autofill, and dark web monitoring.

The software is available on desktop and mobile, with synchronization across devices through a secure connection. Having a free version with standard features and more advanced paid plans, NordPass Personal caters to many kinds of users. It’s certainly a cost-effective option with prices starting at just $1.69 per month. Plus, users get to enjoy a 30-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

We loved our first impression of NordPass Personal, with its minimalist interface that makes it incredibly easy to use. The software supports five different entry types (passwords, personal notes, credit card details, passkeys, and personal information), each one with its own folder and category.

While we missed the option to add tags to items, NordPass Personal provides fast access to information through its search bar, custom folders for personalized categorization, and website icons.

The password generator also offers some customization, letting users choose which type of characters to use. That being said, we would have liked to see longer generated passwords, as 60 is the maximum number of characters NordPass Personal supports.

As expected from a password manager, NordPass Personal comes with password autosave and autofill. More interestingly, the browser extension is also able to fill in forms automatically with the personal information saved in the vault.

Sharing the information stored is also safe due to encrypted sharing. Users can control the type of access the receiving person has over the information, ensuring that no one is able to get a glimpse of data they’re not supposed to see.

Password audit and data breach monitoring

To stay ahead of the competition, password managers need to prioritize advanced security measures. With its Password Health and Data Breach Scanner, NordPass Personal doesn’t disappoint.

Password Health audits all credentials in your vault to find weak and duplicated passwords. We found the tool straightforward, with the vulnerable accounts being clearly displayed and a button taking us directly to the website in question.

Going the extra mile, NordPass’s Data Breach Scanner monitors not only accounts but also credit card details. Adding and keeping an eye on this vital information couldn’t be easier. The data breach monitor surveys the information added to the vault and suggests which email accounts and credit cards to scan, which can be added with one click.

Since the browser extension and desktop app work so closely together, using the extension is a must to get the full extent of NordPass. It’s available for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Opera. Of course, it also works on other Chromium-based browsers such as Brave, Microsoft Edge, or Avast Secure Browser.

On mobile, NordPass Personal is available for Android and iOS. Similar to the desktop software, NordPass Personal mobile apps includes all features in the smaller screen, making every action straightforward while on the go.

The interface also mirrors the browser and desktop versions, maintaining the simplistic yet organized look. Security-wise, besides the two-factor authentication, users can use biometric authentication to unlock the software such as their fingerprint, and screenshots of the app are blocked by default.

Finding platforms that are easy to set up and navigate is always a refreshing feeling, and NordPass Personal doesn’t disappoint. Creating an account is straightforward: users need to add an email, confirm the account, insert a password, and that’s it. Afterward, NordPass logs in and prompts its users to download the desktop app and browser extension.

After installing the app and logging in, two-factor authentication is already in place – users get a six-digit code in their email that they need to input into the app. For first-time users, NordPass prompts them to add a master password right away.

The software is now ready to start saving passwords. Users with saved passwords on a different password manager (like LastPass or 1Password) or browser can import all their information directly. Even if the previously used app cannot be found in NordPass’ list, it’s possible to import everything through a CSV file, making it a convenient and simple change of providers.

Encryption

Created by the team behind NordVPN, it’s a no-brainer that special care was given to security and privacy. NordPass uses one of the most recent encryption algorithms – XchaCha20 to secure users’ vaults.

Passwords are locally encrypted end-to-end when sent to NordPass servers or synced through all users’ devices. So far, NordPass Personal (and NordPass Business) hasn’t been hacked, but the company still goes a step further to ensure no one can access your sensitive data even if it was hacked.

By using zero-knowledge architecture, NordPass can keep proof that users have inserted the correct master password, but don’t actually access the key itself. Everything is decrypted locally, and not even NordPass employees have access to the content in your account.

Security is also enhanced by the existence of two-factor and biometric authentication, guaranteeing that in the case of a hack, logging into vaults will still be difficult. The addition of passkeys to the software provides another layer of security.

Bottom line

There’s no question that NordPass Personal came to shake up the password management industry. From an intuitive interface to passkey support and robust security, the provider establishes its position as a strong and trustworthy solution.

As expected from a company that created one of the most secure VPNs of all time, significant focus is given to security. Everything is encrypted end-to-end, and zero-knowledge architecture ensures no one can access the data saved in your vault.

Although it lacks some customization options by not allowing tags, NordPass Personal ticks every box a comprehensive password manager should. In addition, its budget-friendly prices and great discounts for longer plans, combined with 30-day free trial and money-back guarantee, makes it an accessible option for everyone.
