Photo books are an excellent way of always having cherished memories on hand, and they are also fantastic as gifts. Formerly known as AdoramaPix, Printique has been one of the most reliable photo book services on the market since 1996.
Printique guides you to create the photo book of your dreams with ease, thanks to a wide variety of customization tools. Ready-made designs make the creation process a breeze, but building everything from scratch is also possible.
There are several paper, cover, size, and shape options to choose from, and the book can be delivered to your doorstep or collected from one of Printique’s store locations. With prices starting at $19.99 for a 5×7” softcover book, as well as discounts for newcomers and occasional offers for regular customers, Printique is definitely an option worth trying out.
Although Printique’s editor is packed with various customization options, we were pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to understand how it works. First, you choose the cover, shape, size, and paper of the book you want to create.
Then, it’s easy to upload pictures from your device, cloud storage services, or social media accounts. You can also add photos from your own Printique’s gallery, which has unlimited photo storage.
Printique provides the option to use autofill, and we found it handy that it’s possible to set the autofill order from old to new, A to Z, or vice versa. If you prefer doing everything yourself, the pictures can be manually placed into the book. It’s easy to make minor modifications to each image, like trimming or adjusting opacity and shadows.
There are countless backgrounds and photo frames to break the monotony of the dull traditional ones. Plus, you can add text and fun stickers to your books. You may also modify the default layouts and covers in addition to the number of pages and themes in case you change your mind.
Unfortunately, editing a photo book is only possible using a desktop. The editing tool isn’t available on mobile browsers, and the dedicated iOS and Android apps are limited to uploading pictures and ordering photo printings. Still, we liked that, as we changed the book to our liking, the estimated price of our final product adjusted with it.
Previewing the photo book is possible throughout the full editing process. Once you’ve finished, you can share your masterpiece on Facebook or send its link to other people who can either view or purchase it.
Printique provides 88 themes spread between 14 categories, including family, travel, wedding, and pets. Nothing you do with the themes is permanent, so you can always change your mind while working on your project.
The only confusing thing is that many of these themes are under multiple categories. So, you may end up choosing a theme from a different category than you originally wanted and customize into the perfect look and feel for your book.
As with the themes, there are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to photo book types. Still, no matter what kind of book you prefer, the first thing you have to choose is the cover. The options are: soft, hard, leather (vegan or genuine leather), and fabric (regular or die-cut).
After that, you can pick one of the five available paper types on which your photos will be printed. Always decide on the paper in advance because not all paper types are available for all book sizes. Speaking of sizes, there are 15 to choose from depending on the cover type, ranging from 4×4” to 12×15” (in square, landscape, and portrait shapes).
Printique‘s photo books are somewhat more expensive than the industry average price. The cover and paper type, as well as the number of pages, determine the final price tag. If you select the most cost-friendly cover type for an 8×8” book, the base price of a 20-page photo book with a soft cover is $19.99, which increases by $0.99 for each additional page.
Books are processed within 2-4 days, after which they are either dropped off at Printique’s store in New York or shipped for a base price of $12.24 per product. You can choose from four delivery types, and the company only ships to the U.S. and Canada.
In case of an unforeseen defect, Printique offers you a full refund and automatically sends you a corrected version of the product. If you return the faulty product, you also get its full price back as store credit. Additionally, it’s possible to get a full refund if you cancel the order before printing. After printing and before shipping, you may get a 50% refund. After shipping, you won’t be refunded if the issue isn’t the company’s fault.
As for promotions, newcomers enjoy 15% off their first order above $75. There’s also the option to get 40% off your book’s regular price if you’re happy to have the company’s watermark on it. Bulk discounts on $1,800 minimum orders are also available upon request via email. Moreover, the company often runs occasional discounts, so it’s worth checking the current offers before placing your order.
The most common questions related to Printique are answered in the extended FAQ section. There are also tutorial videos to help get you started, and a live chat that’s easily accessible while you’re setting up your photo book. During our test we contacted the company through live chat and got a helpful answer within just a few seconds.
Printique is active on all major social media networks, but keep in mind that these are mostly used to promote discounts and coupons. Other ways to get in touch with the company are via phone during business hours or anytime via email.
Printique is a versatile online photo book editor that offers plenty of neat features and a multitude of finishing options. The editor is fairly simple to use and the numerous customization tools aren’t overwhelming, which made creating our book an enjoyable experience.
The unlimited photo storage means that your favorite photos are always accessible and ready to place in a photo book. Plus, being able to autofill the pictures by date makes it easier to craft a book that tells a story. Still, it’s a shame that the editor can only be used on desktop, as it would be convenient to edit a photo book from a mobile device.
What’s more, although Printique’s prices are higher than the average, there are no surprises when you get to the checkout page, as the book’s price is updated along with each edit. Still, there are ways to reduce the prices with occasional promotions and a 15% discount for newcomers.
