As a VPN provider, F-Secure Freedome is just one part of a bigger brand, simply dubbed F-Secure. The F gives away the roots of this company, as it was founded in Finland and has its headquarters in Helsinki. Operating since 1988, they have been involved in various areas of the computer industry, including the antivirus market and search engines. This is otherwise secondary information, as this particular article is only concerned with the VPN side of F-Secure's services. However, in this case the other areas of the brand are meddling into the business of the Freedome VPN branch. There are certain disadvantageous conditions for installing the company's software, for example. These conditions favor using other products of F-Secure and do not support an environment where multiple companies' software are installed on your computer. In our opinion, this is the biggest drawback of F-Secure Freedome.

VPN.ht is a Canada-based VPN company with a rather specific focus when it comes to unblocking content. By this we mean that this is one of the few VPN services that are optimized for streaming; to be more specific, this “streaming” means the use of Popcorn Time. Of course, you can still use this product just like any regular VPN, but VPN.ht enjoys a symbiotic relationship with Popcorn Time. This means that as a rare addition, all VPN.ht connections can come with a built-in SmartDNS function, allowing you to bypass quite strong online restrictions, beyond the standard unblocking. It is a bold and smart marketing move to plow your sign down next to one house in the city of VPN. Keep in mind though, that VPN.ht does not come with its own Popcorn Time client. Their services should be run next to Popcorn Time's to provide a layer that both protects your connection and penetrates blocks.

VPN Unlimited is operated by US-based KeepSolid, a software giant that offers a diverse range of software and apps including private browsers, Wi-Fi hotspot protectors and more. The VPN solution by this software giant is a topic of discussion mostly because of its extremely low prices and a truly unlimited VPN plan that you can use for the rest of your life. This is the result of two things in our opinion. One, conditions are just generally favorable. Secondly, VPN Unlimited does not always provide the top security standards of today. While OpenVPN is present on Windows, IPSec is used on most other machines. To compensate this somewhat, the speeds you can get are really good, though this is partially the result of IPSec simply needing less resources to run. Nevertheless, you are about to read about an unlimited service, in multiple senses of the word.

Monitronics is a company with decade long experience when it comes to protecting homes and automating safety devices. The company licenses some of the most dependable monitoring equipment from manufacturers, and offers a wide variety of threat detectors, cameras and motion sensors. The base hub is an easy to use touchscreen keypad that is enhanced with the extra service of Monitronics' own smartphone application, called HomeTouch. The app grants access to the automated light systems, door and garage locks or the smart thermostat. The company also thought about personal safety, thus it provides a medical alert system for elders or recovering patients. Monitronics has three different home alarm packages, starting from $34.95 per month, and installs all systems free of a charge.

Trust.Zone is a Seychelles based VPN company that enjoys the benefits of the online privacy legislation of this offshore paradise. Handled by Extra Solutions Ltd, Trust.Zone is a fairly new addition to the competitors of the online safety market. The parent company has been in existence since 2008, and Trust.Zone as a VPN project is in the running since 2014. Apart from some pretty good prices, another strength of the company is the free trial program they run. While not available indefinitely, you can try out their services for three days with unlimited bandwidth before making a decision. We also have to highlight how the country and location selection might not be the best, though there are some rarely seen places included. There are some interesting networking choices included as well. Security protocols are strongly divided between Windows – that receives the most support – and other devices. In the case of the former, this is mainly represented in the presence of a client and extra networking options. Still, we were met with a user-friendly environment, and thus it is safe to say that Trust.Zone deserves a look.

Ivacy was founded in 2007 and over a decade later it can already say that it has conquered its space in the VPN market thanks to a fast, worldwide network of servers. On top of that, the Singaporean company provides the best encryption level and even some additional tools – like split tunneling, a kill switch and IPv6 leak protection – that will make all its users happy but especially those interested in torrenting. In fact, Ivacy is an active supporter of P2P and file sharing and its attractive client is built to accommodate such activities, and covers a host of platforms ranging from computers and mobile devices to routers and more. Ivacy is also a title-winning contender when it comes to pricing, too, since it has a very nice price/quality ratio, as well as allowing those that want to try the service without commitment to do so with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

PrivateVPN is a Sweden-based VPN company founded in 2009 and growing ever since thanks to a complete service geared toward streaming, P2P, and online security fans. The app for computers and mobiles is properly configured for both beginners and advanced users, who can easily connect to the best server using default settings, or customize their connection by choosing different protocols and encryption levels. Along with a global server network, the different plans with attractive prices are some of the best aspects of PrivateVPN, a company that allows its customers to request a 7-day free trial and enjoy a 30-day money-back guarantee after purchasing.

Monitronics is a home security and alarm monitoring company that earned many awards and recognition. They realized that elders find true peace of mind only if their home is both safe and secure. In combining a medical alert service with home security features, Monitronics created HomeTouch Care. The service includes round the clock access to its monitoring service, a waterproof medical pendant or help button, sensors, and a remotely controllable base unit. The system is delivered to your home and installed by security experts free of charge since it does require technical knowhow to get HomeTouch Care fully set up. HomeTouch Care can be yours for $46.95 a month and an additional activation fee must also be paid. That's quite a hefty fee for a medical alert solution, but it is more affordable than getting a separate medical alert system and home security system.
