The clue is in the name with Omnisend. Leaving one-channel marketing software in the dust, this powerhouse covers not just email, but SMS, push notifications, and social media channels too. This marketing automation software is designed with ecommerce businesses in mind, combining all kinds of tools together in one place, including email templates and advanced segmentation.
Our take is that you get a lot for your money with Omnisend, and it undoubtedly relieves marketing teams from all kinds of manual work, serves up smart reports, and is user-friendly at every turn. But of course, no software is without faults. In this review, we reveal our thoughts on where the company gets it right and where it needs to put in a bit more work.
One huge plus with Omnisend is that there’s a generous free version – so you can come to your own conclusions before committing financially.

Omnisend gets email templates right.
For free, you can access a whole host of newsletter templates that cover categories like birthdays, health, beauty, and Black Friday. We were impressed by how different and equally inviting they all were. Elegant, colorful, eye-catching – there are so many to choose from that there’s really no need to start from scratch.
Plus, your emails won’t look like everyone else’s, as it’s possible to fully customize them with your company’s branding.
We felt that the drag-and-drop editor is easy for anyone to use, and its intuitive functionality makes the transition from template to ready-to-send blazing fast.

As with most email marketing software, Omnisend comes with premade segments, or you can create your own from scratch. We liked that the company hasn’t overcomplicated segmentation like some competitors do.
Prebuilt segments are clearly laid out with customer categories like frequent store visitors, recent buyers, and even subscribers who will celebrate their birthdays in the next seven days. We also appreciated the form for suggesting your own segment to add to this list.
We had high hopes for Omnisend's AI custom segmentation tool. Unfortunately, after trying out lots of different prompts (some more complex than others), we weren’t able to successfully create our own segment using AI. Hopefully, this is something the company will fix soon, as it would be a fantastic addition to the segmentation process.
No matter which plan you’re on, free or paid, you can access Omnisend's A/B test campaigns. It’s straightforward to test all elements, such as subject line, sender’s name, email address, and the content of the email, simultaneously or separately.
We were impressed by the level of detail in the A/B testing reports, balanced carefully with readability. Metrics like click, spam, and unsubscribe rates clearly demonstrate how successful each email sequence is.
When it comes to setting up an SMS campaign, it’s as simple as just filling out boxes, adding media if you want to, and seeing your SMS come to life in the preview on the right. We loved this aspect of the design process. Much like email campaigns, SMS analytics appear in the reports section on the dashboard.
Omnisend customers with Shopify, BigCommerce, and API integrations can leverage the power of push notifications. For Android and Windows users, icons and images can even be added to notifications.
Another of Omnisend's selling points is its prebuilt automation workflows. There are over 25 to choose from, and all are designed with a certain goal in mind.
For instance, there’s a set of three welcome emails that aim to onboard and convert new subscribers, or further down the line, you may need the product abandonment sequence. This particular workflow splits recipients into two categories, depending on whether they opened your last message, and adjusts the following email accordingly.
Omnisend saves ecommerce companies so much time by automating messages and personalizing them based on customer behavior and shopping preferences.

There are so many third-party integrations available that there’s a designated App Market. Categorized by purpose, the platform offers over 190 integrations, from WordPress to Zapier. We’re in no doubt that this software is an ecommerce marketer’s best friend.

Omnisend offers three plans: Free, Standard, and Pro, and we’re impressed by all of them. The free version is an all-rounder, as it’s possible to set up email, SMS, and push notification campaigns, run A/B testing, and customize email newsletter templates. The free and Standard plans come with $1 worth of SMS credits, and these can be easily topped up at any time.
The Standard and Pro plans can be scaled up as your contact list increases, and both include 24/7 priority support. These plans also serve up the opportunity to save 30% for the first three months, if you choose to pay up-front. After three months, you’ll pay the normal price on a monthly basis.
One downside is that Omnisend doesn’t offer refunds, but this isn’t too surprising as the free plan lets you test most features out before committing to a payment plan.

Omnisend won a Stevie Award in 2022, and we can see why. The company boasts 24/7 live chat and email customer service, and it certainly delivered during our testing process. We received a reply to our email in under 10 minutes, and it was both polite and helpful.
Alternatively, there are plenty of self-service resources in the help center, including how-to guides with images and video tutorials.
The real show-stopper is Omnisend Academy. Brimming with videos, this library of bite-sized information covers all kinds of topics, from email campaign ideas to using ChatGPT in email marketing.
You can find Omnisend on the main social media channels, and support agents often reply to comment threads on Reddit.
With standout features like elegant email templates and intuitive segmenting, Omnisend has established itself as an industry leader. We found the marketing automation software to be utterly user-friendly and an all-rounder when it comes to multi-channel support.
The App Market is also impressive, with over 190 integrations (a number that seems to keep increasing) for all kinds of business software. The downsides are few and far between, but we can’t ignore the lack of refunds and significant discounts. It’s also a shame that the AI custom segmentation isn’t fully functioning.
With everything in mind, there’s a lot to recommend Omnisend, especially if you’re running an ecommerce business. The cherry on top is the free version that includes a surprisingly high number of emails, along with plenty of other benefits.
Omnisend has a free version that includes 500 emails per month, $1 SMS credit, and access to many features like email templates and the drag-and-drop editor.
