The first word that comes to mind when we think about Mailigen is ‘intuitive’. It’s true that there are still a few things that could be improved – adding an ‘X’ button to leave settings that come out as a pop-up is a good example – but overall this email marketing software is straightforward to use. You can easily find the different sections at the top of the admin dashboard, and the breadcrumbs found at the bottom are an excellent way to understand which steps you need to take to complete an email campaign, A/B test, and more.

Mailigen also knows this and provides a comprehensive email list creator where you can add any type of custom field. By default, when you add subscribers manually the software only prompts you to add the subscriber’s first and last name, but there are pre-built templates for various types of information such as gender, birthday, activity levels, and more. You can also import lists in XLS, CSV, or text format.
Another critical step in improving your email marketing is testing several message types to understand which one brings the highest open rate and engagement. Mailigen allows you to run A/B tests where you can have two different email subjects, senders, newsletters, or sending times. One thing that we loved about these is that you can easily select the percentage of people that should receive version A or B.

Furthermore, all campaigns have comprehensive real-time analytics to help you understand how they’re doing and where you need to improve. Like the platform itself, reports are straightforward to follow. In addition to pie charts for the most basic statistics – email opens, email clicks, bounced emails, and unsubscribes – you can select these to see more detailed information on each topic.

It also allows you to integrate the email marketing platform with analytics software such as Sumo or Google Analytics. However, since Mailigen provides its open API for everyone, it can be manually integrated with everything and developers can submit their own integrations.
There are also some app integrations that not all companies on the market provide. You can monetize your newsletters by placing ads through Admailr, connect the platform with other web services through Zapier, or trigger tasks in ProjectManager, just to give a few examples.

Unsurprisingly, the more subscribers you need, the more expensive Mailigen gets, although the price per subscriber actually decreases. For example, if you purchase a plan with 2,500 subscribers with annual payments, it will cost you $25 per month. This means that each subscriber costs $0.01– half the per-subscriber price when having only 500 subscribers.

While the company doesn’t provide 24/7 customer support, there’s a live chat where you can speak with a support agent right away or send the company a message when the team is offline. Moreover, the knowledge base features over 100 articles that tackle everything you can do with the platform. From account settings to A/B testing, everything is carefully explained so you can get your answers without engaging with the customer support team. There’s also a blog that provides essential tips to improve your email marketing tactics, and of course a newsletter that has over 20,000 subscribers. Unfortunately, their social media profiles are almost inactive with just a few posts published months apart, so this should be the last communication channel to try when facing a problem with the platform.

There are plenty of happy customers with Mailigen, and it’s easy to understand why. The platform is straightforward to navigate and offers all the industry-standard features, and then some. And with the number of applications you can integrate with this email marketing software, not even the sky will be the limit. Mailigen has a strong emphasis on tracking and report analytics. For those with specific demographics in mind, all you need is dynamic code to target specific demographics in the same email campaign automatically. And you can actually get this to thousands of clients at the same time. I like Mailigen, and have been using it for 4 years (Yes, since when they were a tiny company!).
Mailigen is a fairly great match for other services like Mailchimp. It gives very good room to gather new audiences by subscription forms that are easily integrated to emails and websites. For the social freaks, you may include a follow us or like us for your twitter and Facebook pages in the mails off the table! I think they surely do make complex simple and stay true to their mantra. The service will however do with a real time customer chat. I personally dislike the tickets, though they work too.
