Part of the airSlate family (also known for SignNow, pdfFiller, and US Legal Forms), DocHub is a user-friendly cloud PDF editor with strong electronic signature capabilities. It supports a wide variety of e-signature types, such as drawing your signature with a mouse, using your phone as a finger signature pad, uploading an image, or just typing the signature and choosing from ten fonts.

The platform works with all major document types, including DOC, PDF, PPT, XLS, and images. The files can be uploaded from the user’s computer, but DocHub can also import documents directly from Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, or a URL. The platform also lets users send faxes for signing and provides a fax inbox. Even better, the software integrates with Google Workspace, so you can sign files without leaving the cloud productivity tool.

Sending documents for signing is also a breeze. DocHub lets users bulk-send to up to 50 signers per request, and we were pleasantly surprised by all the customization options. Sign reminders are enabled by default, and it’s possible to automatize three reminder schedules (of up to 30 days). However, it’s also possible to manually tweak these settings before sending each request.

All signatures with DocHub are legally binding, and the process can be organized so that a document is signed in a specific order or simultaneously. Signer roles can also be assigned, where you can decide whether a signer can only sign or can also annotate. Although it’s not possible to restrict signatures by location, you can have locations where the document was signed included in the certified PDF, set expiration dates for inactive signers, and only permit hand-drawn signatures.

One of the best parts of DocHub is the PDF editor. It’s incredibly intuitive to use and allows for several types of edits. There are seven custom fields to choose from, allowing you to add more information to the document after uploading. In addition to text, paragraph, and signature fields, the e-signature software also provides checkboxes, dropdown menus, initials, and date fields.

Each field can be assigned to a specific person, ensuring that the correct person signs or adds information in the appropriate place. It’s not possible to change the original text of the document, but the editor allows you to draw, highlight, redact parts of the text, and insert comments. However, what really surprised us was how cleverly placed all the buttons, icons, and options are, making the drag-and-drop editor extremely straightforward.

While DocHub doesn’t provide any premade templates within its platforms, its website has a library filled with thousands of forms. Unfortunately, the presentation of the list of forms is not particularly intuitive, as it lacks a search bar to find what you’re looking for quickly. On top of that, when you click the button to add the form to your dashboard, it redirects you to sign in to pdfFiller.

Even so, the electronic signature software allows for unlimited custom-made templates, which you can either upload or create from scratch. This alone is a huge time saver. Along with having everything within easy reach, the custom fields can also be saved on the template so that you don’t have to add them each time. It’s also possible to set up custom branding in the user’s settings, such as applying a custom color or adding your logo to the document toolbar.

E-signature software is known for being highly private and secure, and DocHub is no exception. Along with end-to-end encryption, the platform complies with major privacy laws, including GDPR, CPRA, and HIPAA.

All files created and uploaded to DocHub are also saved using redundant, encrypted storage, meaning the data is stored in multiple servers in different locations. Plus, when a document is deleted, all copies are destroyed.

However, the security DocHub provides doesn’t end here, as it’s also possible to protect documents with a password, make them read-only, and enable two-factor authentication. Additionally, the software creates a PDF audit trail during the signing process and sends a certification of completion once everyone has signed.

That being said, the mobile app is well-designed, and we were able to send documents for signing that had been prepared beforehand with no issues.

Additionally, there’s a useful Chrome extension. This tool allows you to open the DocHub editor directly from any website, making it the perfect addition to your workflow if you need to edit and sign documents regularly.

Working as a team is also intuitive on DocHub. Sharing files through email or URL is just one of the ways to work together on documents. It also enables the creation of ‘organizations’, which allow several users to share the same dashboard for easier collaboration.

DocHub‘s pricing is as straightforward as its interface. Creating an account and using the software is entirely free. While the free monthly quota is quite limited, it’s ideal for small businesses and freelancers that don’t need to sign more than five documents per month.

Signing up for the Pro plans gives you unlimited access to DocHub, including unlimited signatures, documents, and sign requests. Going for a paid plan brings other extra benefits, too, such as bulk sending, 35 free fax pages per month, up to 50 signers per sign request, and 100 folders.

Even though DocHub is affordable, we were expecting better customer service. The company can only be reached via the ticket system or phone, which isn’t available 24/7. It’s also not possible to turn to social media, as DocHub is no longer active on its accounts. Instead, you can only reach out to airSlate, whose main objective on these channels is to share news on its various products rather than provide support.
