While PUBG has already amassed a great number of fans, there were some issues regarding its stability. Many players complained about having difficulties while playing. In response to those complaints, the company released PUBG Lite. It is complete with the full game but has significant reductions in graphic details and other features. The aim of this version is to make the game more playable on low-end computers. It is meant to be played in regions where the game’s minimum specifications may be difficult for average players to obtain.

So far, this version has been released in 15 countries. However, it is only natural that people from other countries want to have access to PUBG Lite, as it consumes less resources. Given the unavailability of the game in most countries, the only way to get it is by using a VPN service. Gamers don’t have to worry about compromising on speed, as the days where using a VPN meant that connection speeds would be affected are long gone. VPN programs nowadays have advanced technology that enables them to prevent such an occurrence.

Why use a VPN with PUBG Lite?

PUBG Lite has been gaining momentum since its release, as this version requires less computer resources to run the software. While the target of the program is mainly regions where the minimum requirements to play the original game are hard to achieve, such as Southeast Asia, players from around the world have taken interest in this particular version. So far, PUBG Lite is only available in fifteen countries. Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Brazil, and Turkey are the countries that can access the game with absolutely no restrictions. For those outside of these areas, the only way for them to have access to PUBG Lite is by using a VPN service.

However, a VPN helps with more than just that. When playing, players have access to each other’s IP address, and consequently, their locations. As a result, foul players can engage in disrespectful activities, such as DDoS attacks. With a VPN, the IP address will be hidden from those users. Obviously, because of the game’s massive success, many players have complained about slow connections and overall difficulties in playing PUBG Lite. Using a VPN can be helpful in those cases, as it can eliminate PING and lagging issues.

How to set up a VPN with PUBG Lite

Many internet service providers are known to throttle their clients’ connections, especially if they detect that bandwidth usage is too high. For gamers, this means that they will experience slow connections, which will impact their playing abilities. However, that is circumventable with a VPN. A VPN service encrypts all the data exchanged when going online, providing full privacy and anonymity. By using it, third parties, such as ISPs won’t be able to spy on their customer’s traffic. Additionally, a VPN program will be able to provide a consistent gaming experience as it will protect players from DDoS attacks from their opponents. Moreover, a VPN will help beat lag and actually improve the connection’s speed.

There are some aspects to consider when picking a VPN service. It’s important to know what encryption protocols are used, as some may be more suitable than others. OpenVPN, the most recent and popular protocol, can be used across different devices, so it is adequate for gamers. In addition, a good network with optimized servers for streaming and P2P is further indication that the VPN software is acceptable for gaming. By making sure these two factors are considered when choosing a VPN, gamers will guarantee that they are safe while enjoying PUBG Lite, and that their connection speeds aren’t being negatively affected.

Errors and bans with VPN usage

The desktop version of PUBG is monopolized by Steam , which is strongly against the use of VPN services. Brendan Greene, the developer who laid out the foundations for the game, and Bluehole, the studio behind PUBG, share a different opinion when it comes to the matter. In fact, they refuse to region lock people and instead support the idea of players joining any server they want. Additionally, the game’s terms and conditions, which feature a long list of prohibitions, don’t mention or forbid the use of a VPN.

However, while using a VPN service solely to play is no problem for the company, using it to connect to other programs in order to crack the game and cheat is extremely against the rules and PUBG will not take such actions lightly. Over 30,000 accounts were banned in January, 2019. Of those accounts, six belonged to professional players. The company proceeded to ban those users after finding out that they were using an illegal program to read game data that revealed their opponent’s whereabouts on the map. This program would show their opponent’s location on a different screen and not interfere with the cheater’s main game screen. Because the software used VPN technology, PUBG took longer to detect it.

Furthermore, players who were aware of other gamers cheating were also banned, as a result of not reporting them. By proceeding to ban those users, PUBG is sending the message that no cheating technology will be tolerated.
