When compared, tests showed an average decrease of only 20% for downloads, regardless of server location, with constant and stable connections via WireGuard protocol.

As an example, a connection to a Los Angeles server, which is close to 6,000 miles away, was impacted by a mere 10% on download speeds. It contrasts with the 17% decrease for a server located in Madrid, which is under 400 miles away. Ping times were also affected but only noticeable when connecting to distant servers, which is to be expected.

The results weren’t as good for uploads but positive nonetheless, with speeds decreasing by 36% on average. While there weren’t any DNS leaks while we tested PureVPN, it’s unfortunate that it doesn’t include a multi-hop feature, falling behind some of its competitors.

PureVPN uses military-grade 256-bit encryption that prevents third-party surveillance, hacking attempts, and spying threats. Additionally, its headquarters are located in the British Virgin Islands, which has no mandatory data retention laws, and the company abides by a zero-log policy.

    1. At this moment almost nothing works with this VPN application.
      I just upgraded to W10 version 1803. PureVPN v6.01 can’t connect any more . PureVPN helpdesk provided a fix version, but split tunneling is not working and all other Windows VPN connections are removed every time you connect with PureVPN.
      And I have almost allays issues after every PureVPN upgrade. The helpdesk has standard advice – reinstall. It seems that they don’t have enough knowledge to make split tunneling work properly: if you use it and activate PureVPN DNS you can’t access local network.

    1. Bought 2 Yr. coverage from this Purevpn for $69.00. Bad decision on my part. I just cancelled them today March 2nd 2018. It’s not the money, as this price is reasonable. However, if they don’t provide a working product, $1.00 would be to much. Went around and around with them on fixes and changing protocols etc. to no avail. Changed to ExpessVPN and it works great 1st time right off the bat. Pure has a 7 day refund policy, which is ridiculous . Express 30 day.   29. BY far the worst Tech company support I have encountered and I have dealt with HP, Time Warner and At&T. They arrogant which is to me worse than not being able to fix. they were both, arrogant and not able to fix it and admitting there is a problem on their end.
    first, if you fill out the form to get it then change your mind, you will get a bill.
    one day my connection stopped on 2 devices including one new OS with new PureVPN install. it authenticates, finds the server then errors out. I connected to chat, a sales person transferred me to tech who asked me to uninstall and install. he ignored my comment that it was happening on 2 including a brand new PC. so I played along and uninstalled and reinstalled. I got the same results. he asked me to change protocols. I did that. he lead with blaming my ISP and gave me a link to submit a ticket to purevpn support to contact me. I submitted the ticket and went to a friend’s house who has DSL and tried there with same results. I went home and read an email from purevpn asking me to uninstall go to a link to download an installer, install and share the results. that was the full email. I did and replied with the results which was the same. they replied to me sayingYou are requested to connect VPN using https://support.purevpn.com/how-to-setup-purevpn-manually-on-windows-7-openvpn guide and share the results with us.. I did. it was chat again. they said uninstall and install again. I told him I am her per your support. he did not listen. here is the chat script

Yesterday was the first time it did not connect immediately, but this problem was solved pretty quickly when I contacted Fabio at their customer service today.     The speed is excellent, no problem with connecting, it’s very useful when connecting to a public wifi or a foreign country (for live TV, for example)

    I recently bought purevpn package, was experiencing a problem or 2 with it and spoke with 2 or 3 people that offered little help. i logged back on and spoke to Hamelin. by far one of the best customer services i have received. Helped me through everything and within 30 minutes everything was set up and running.

I am glad I stuck through the hassle though, and I am glad they put their best and all to helping me out.

    Pricing is really reasonable for the yearly plan + 10% discount, what more can you ask for? Speed of the VPN is really good, and the features while Split tunneling is not implemented fully, the customer service representative said they would email me when it was ready.

This last I could not get on to the server I preferred–it kept connecting to one in another US state. With CS we discovered a problem with my preferred server and it was resolved within 48 hours. Good show.
    This is the 3rd VPN service I have used and have extended another year as I think it is the best. I get 25% faster speeds (100+ down on speedtest.net) then I do without it !!! What/???? Love it.

    This service is a scam. They asked for a received a copy of my driver’s license..Then they decided they wanted a copy of the front of my credit card….
    my credit card company, naturally , warned me against doing this. I sent a copy of the last four digits and my name on the front of the credit card…
    THEY WERE NOT HAPPY WITH THAT,,,,THEY WANTED A COLOR COPY.
    When I informed them that I could not give them a color copy (machine broken),,they cancelled my account!!!
    No refund so far!

    I have been using purevpn sine November 2014.nI had sing up for 1 year. in apral they cancelled my account because of They say I am abusing their service . I didn’t know only 200 connection per day is allowed. I said ok they may cancel my account but they need to return money back for the rest of my days. They said no. Here is their answer:

    The cost is more then fair, the support staff is knowledgeable and extremely friendly. and with no effort at all you can configure the VPN to tunnel all traffic including DNS requests which was one of the more difficult things to accomplish on my personal VPN.

    First they keeping pushing to solve technical problems, even after all options are obviously exhausted and you insist on refund.

    Once refund is requested response time suddenly becomes incredibly slow, for technical help average is a few hours, but once refund is requested expect to wait 2-3 days for every response.

    First denied refund, eventually said they will refund 70%, note ‘said’ they will, still has not happened after 1 week.

    I paid 12 months subscription, I used for 1 day, I think anyone would agree anything less than 11/12 months refund is completely unreasonable.

    I decided to upgrade to a VPN and after a quick Google it seems that the favourite is PureVPN. Being of mature age I hate installing anything but Albert of Chat made the job a pleasure. He just took over with Team Viewer and did it for me which was lucky because everything look very different on a Mac with a wifi connection.

    I suppose it will take a bit of getting used to but extremely happy so far. I could not have done this without Albert. Five stars all round.

I had a small occurunce when i kept being directed to a Germany server even though i was connected to another. I began a live chat with Albert and he walked me through the steps to fix the problem which was resolved after 5 minutes. Great service with excellent support.

They blockt nearly all the Ports so no gaming and they can see all your traffic so no privacy. -> I tried Tor but it didn’t work so I decided to get a vpn. After some research i decided to pick PureVPN because of the multiple accounts, the good price and the easy software.

    I had some problems with sending mails but the very helpful customer service solved it!

  131. I moved from the US to Panama last fall. I love my PureVPN. I use it on our family iPads, iPhone and Mac. I use all my devices with the VPN connected except for local business. I don’t notice slower speed when the VPN is connected. Without my VPN connected I cannot see many clips and videos via friends and family on Facebook. PureVPN makes connecting to everything a breeze. Of course we purchased PureVPN for the more serious applications.
    I recently had an issue where my server wasn’t working, just on my desktop. I worked with Albert through live chat and he helped me using TEAMVIEWER software, where he controlled my desktop for a short period of time. It went much faster than typing lots of questions and answers.
    Not all the live chat people have been as good as Albert but I gave it five stars to not penalize Albert for the service of others less talented.

Speeds are horrible – not usable inside Mainland China, service only send you automated answers to the website – demanded my money back but no refund, as I opened a file at Paypal they suspended and terminated my account. As I am also based in HK I will involve a lawyer to get my money back – stay tuned.
    Good alternative if you are in China : witopia – much better speed and very good service – they will provide “secret” IP addresses to you if you have speed problems at your location.

    Although PureVPN have 24/7 customer support that is only for basic issues, For advanced help you have to use the live chat during Hong Kong time.
    I have sent 6 or 7 emails and have spent about 3 hours on live chat and the problem is still not resolved.
    Their last suggestion was for me to call at 3 am my local time.
    Stay away from them and go with SmartyDNS they even offer 14 day free trial.

    While I took some time to set it up, I’m very satisfied of PureVPN. I used it on Linux (OpenVPN), IPad (L2TP), Android (L2TP then OpenVPN) I needed the support service twice, and they provided me valuable support. Here are the small annoyances I found with PureVPN:
    Web site FAQ still incomplete or missing information. For instance the L2TP tutorial for Android still shows PPTP in the screenshots, or the L2TP tutorial for IPad does not mention what should go in the secret field (you must put 12345678 as per the Adroid tutorial). OpenVPN is still Beta, and they do not (yet?) provide the config files on the web site. They sent them to me when I opened a ticket.

    There is an android app on Play, but I had some few issues with it, especially if you use the VPN for a long time, that’s why I tried L2TP, and finally use OpenVPN because I was not satisfied with the logs from L2TP. OpenVPN is very easy to configure with the provided openvpn config files. Just copy keys and certs in the same folder (I use UDP/ files), then import the config file of the VPN you want to use.

    I made a benchmark with speedtest.net using US server (us4.purevpn.net AFAIR), and I reached 20Mbits that is good in my opinion (never used an other VPN service before).

    From my Android Device, I ran an SSH server, and I was able to connect to it from the outside world, on the remote VPN ip address, so this means that it’s a full VPN, with a public IP address directly on your device. For some newbies this might be a security concern, but in the PureVPN options we can check a “NAT” checkbox that prevent direct connections from outside, I didn’t try. I use and highly recommend AFWall+ on Android but I think the device must be rooted.

    Unlimited VPNs volume in 46 countries for less than 3€/Month (46$/year) is just unbeatable.
    Even better, as they allow for 5 VPN connections at the same time. (Didn’t tested more than 3)

    I just needed a VPN to access some content on CBS, and my friend it’s similar but for some French & Belgian stuff. So I just use it occasionally, and I wouldn’t be ready to pay more to see free content.

    Basically, if they are able to fix the few glitches with their Android app, they turn the OpenVPN and its documentation to production grade and keep the same price level, I expect them to be number one before end of 2015.

  138. PureVPN robbery!!!!! I orderd a 12 month subscription. Everythin went fine until I recived my password and 16 character long username……I have a VPN enabled router and they can’t even configure it -.-” LAME! So I had do contact Asus. They said also the router has VPN but it has only one restriction, de username should not be longer as 10 characters. I mentioned this problem to PureVPN support staff and they don’t even try to solve the problem. So folks, choose a better VPN company. I payed 60 bucks for NOTHING!

  140. I subscribed to PureVPN. It offers an excellent product and the customer service is very responsive. You can contact them via email and get an answer most of times within 30 minutes, or via live chat and they respond in a minute or so. They are very friendly and competent. I recommend this product for a number of reasons:
    1) excellent customer service
    2) easy multiplatform setup (I have a Mac, plus IOS, plus Android)
    3) you can connect up 5 devices in parallel
    4) price is reasonable, especiallay if you get one of the coupons or “last minute deals”.

Recently their Customer Agent “Fizz” managed to fix my VPN, talk me through a tutorial, figure out what my Username was, reset my password and basically just be brilliant.     Just subscribed to this VPN. Seems reliable and easy to use. They got a desktop app which makes it easy to set up your VPN if you don’t want to mess with the settings or just lazy =P.
    The customer service is friendly and competent. Lose one star though because I got a problem which I knew was on their side, but they still kept thinking that it was my configuration which was wrong. Finally I lose 30 minutes for nothing but I guess the guy was only following the protocol and was friendly.
