Valentine’s Day Photo Shoot: Proving Your Love the Creative Way

Valentine’s Day Photo Shoot: Proving Your Love the Creative Way

Valentine’s Day: the day of love represented by kisses, cuddles, huge bouquets of roses and heart-shaped boxes full of chocolate.

But this is also the day when countless selfies and photos are taken, intended to catch a romantic moment that will be fondly remembered even many years later.

And since we’re talking about what is essentially the Christmas for lovers, that moment deserves special treatment – such as having those pictures taken during a professional photo shoot.

Why is a photo shoot better for valentine’s day?

Smartphones are designed in such a way that even those who don’t have an in-depth knowledge of photography can instantly snap pictures to have them uploaded to social media for the whole world to see in an instant.

Unfortunately, these devices are hardly the best cameras, and handling them yourself – even with the addition of a selfie stick – will rarely ever provide the results you’re looking for. That’s hardly the way to highlight the spice that couples are looking for when trying to capture the perfect moment, and the resulting picture may not truly represent just how much they love each other.

During a photo shoot, on the other hand, the conditions are much better suited to showing that romance. Photos are taken in a studio or at some pleasant outdoor location to find the best one that represents what the lovebirds want. While photo shoots do admittedly lack spontaneity in order to achieve the best effect, a photo taken in such a way will definitely demonstrate effort and care – something unmodified Facebook and Instagram Valentine’s Day photos will never achieve.

Effort and care: composing valentine photos the right way

The location

For many people, a photo shoot means going to a studio and following the orders of the photographer. However, going to your favorite romantic spot to get the desired Valentine’s Day picture is equally as good, if not better, than doing the same in a studio. In that regard, any place you deem romantic is a perfect choice, whether that’s the nearby park, a field with blooming flowers, the place where you first met, a silent corner of a darkly-lit speakeasy bar or even your own home.

Themes and storylines

Since such a photo shoot is likely to involve a series of composed pictures, it’s best to come up with a concept for the photos that (figuratively) glue the pictures together. This glue can be anything that comes to your mind, but if the concept revolves around a specific place, the weather, the time of the day, the clothes you wear, a color or an emotion, then the pictures will surely make the right impact on anyone that might see them.

And if you have no clue at all? Just hit the internet for inspiration and see what others came up with: you’ll soon be flooded with ideas.

Valentine photo booth

As in the case of any HalloweenChristmas or other such holidays, Valentine’s Day photos don’t have to be strictly serious or cutePhoto booth props that can be purchased at online stores like Amazon for a couple of bucks will definitely put a smile on everyone’s face – including those who are being photographed.

The equipment and the person behind it

Although there is the option to apply the DIY method – in which case a good camera with a tripod and a timer are must-haves – having someone else in control of the camera is the best way to achieve the desired effect. That person doesn’t need to be a professional and instead can simply be anyone you trust to take a good photo, but hiring an expert is the safest option. In fact, the internet is full of talented freelancer photographers who will gladly realize the picture you have in mind in a professional manner and for cost-friendly prices.

Presentation

Nowadays photos can be placed onto literally everything but – let’s be honest – nothing beats a photo book when it comes to style and presentation. Not only is it ridiculously easy to put together a love-themed photo book of any size and style to match your taste in mere minutes with an online photo book builder, but it will also stand as an everlasting reminder of your love.
