Texas-Based HR Company’s Data Breach Exposes 4 Million Records

A recent notice from the HR outsourcing firm VeriSource Services reveals that they experienced a data breach, compromising the data of over 4 million individuals.

According to VeriSource, the leaked data includes names, gender, addresses, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers. After confirming the breach, the company notified all parties involved and offered identity theft protection services via IDX.

• VeriSource finds unusual activity within its network on February 28, 2024.
• VeriSource hires an independent cybersecurity company to investigate the unusual activity.
• The investigation, concluded on August 12, 2024, confirmed unauthorized access to VeriSource’s network in February 2024, resulting in the theft of sensitive data like Social Security numbers.
• VeriSource notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the U.S. Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights, and consumer reporting agencies.
• Between August 20, 2024, and April 17, 2025, VeriSource sent email notices to all potentially affected victims.
• All victims were offered identity theft protection services through IDX and a toll-free call center for answering any questions related to the incident.

The number of cyberattacks in the last year is certainly a matter to worry about.
