Resumonk, founded in 2012 in India, provides its mobile browser-friendly resume builder services for free or for a subscription fee. With the free version, which does not require a subscription, you can import your LinkedIn CV to this user-friendly, simple software and create professional looking CVs within seconds and share them with others via social media or a URL. The paid version, on the other hand, exists in two versions; one that can be paid annually, and the other that can be purchased right away. With the Premium/Lifetime pricing plan you get access to 17 templates, many fonts, endless color schemes, a cover letter option and downloading of your resumes in DOCX format. Analytics about your profile are there to provide insights, and support from the Resumonk team is readily available in the form of a knowledge base, writing tips, a blog and many more.

Lifetime subscription to Resumonk
Why pay every single year when you can buy this software for good? If you choose the Lifetime plan of Resumonk, you have to pay $59 just once, but your trust will be rewarded: you can use the Premium plan with all of its advantages forever.

Features

Regardless of your subscription, creating resumes is very easy, especially if you download an existing resume from LinkedIn and upload it to Resumonk, where it is processed within seconds. But if you decide to create a CV from scratch, you can do it without shedding a sweat in the software’s user-friendly, but maybe too simplistic interface.

Once you provide all the necessary data in each section, two of which are fixed and the rest are customizable, you just have to move onto the next one and the software automatically saves your modifications. Or, if you are moving backwards or staying at a section for a longer time, you can save your modifications manually as well. Each time you type in something it runs through a spell-checker of your browser, and you can add links, tables and page breaks to the text boxes where you elaborate your work experience, skills, languages etc. Furthermore, you can find useful tips under these boxes telling you what to write about and what terminology you should use. When you are ready with your CV, you can change the template, the font and the color of the fonts and download it as a PDF to be able to print it. Unfortunately you cannot send your CV directly from the software, but once you have saved it, you can share your curriculum via Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn, or make the resume public thus creating a unique URL which you can send to others.

Unlike many resume builders, Resumonk only provides resume building services, therefore you cannot search for jobs here. However, if you make your resume public, employers can find you and you can see how many people have looked at your CV in the analytics section.

If you don’t want to become a regular client of Resumonk, you can simply create your resume without signing up for the company’s services. However, to use such crucial features like downloading CVs in DOCX, creating cover letters and unlimited resumes, you have to subscribe to one of the paid plans. Despite these limitations, the software is easy to use: aside from providing your contact info, details about yourself etc., you can insert 10 additional sections to your CV, and modify their orders to your willing. You can speed up the process even more if you download the CV from your LinkedIn profile and upload it to this software; this way your resume can be created in 10 seconds flat.

No mobile apps were developed by Resumonk, but you can use your mobile browser to create/modify/delete CVs. However, keep in mind that Resumonk only displays perfectly on tablet screens.

If you decide not to subscribe to Resumonk’s services you can still choose from 4 free templates, but as always, your hands are tied: you can only download the CV in PDF format, and you can only use one font and one color, black.

To access all 17 templates, you have to subscribe to the Premium pricing plan, after which you can pick one of the 18 fonts. Colors won’t be a problem as you can mix them with a color tool that resembles its Paint Tool SAI counterpart. Furthermore, when you customize your CV, you can also customize your cover letter in the same way, thus creating a nice looking paring that easily stands out from the rest.

There is one catch though: if you choose a template that requires a photo of yourself, you can only download the CV made with that template in PDF.

Pricing

We already mentioned two pricing plans called Free and Premium, so let’s talk about them in more detail. The Free plan is only for those who want to quickly create a decent looking resume from scratch or from their LinkedIn profile without a subscription and download the end result in PDF. But, if you choose the Premium pricing plan, which is $19 a year, you get full access to all templates and fonts, there’s no more Resumonk branding at the bottom of your resumes, you can create unlimited cover letters and resumes and you can download your CVs in DOCX too. Plus the software also lets you track who has viewed your resume with analytics.

However, there is another plan named Lifetime Plan. It offers customers the exact same features as the Premium Plan, but with a twist: it costs $59 which you have to pay once. After that you can use all the benefits of the Premium plan forever – unless you are not satisfied with Resumonk’s services, which entitles you to a full refund within 30 days from subscription.

Surprisingly Resumonk allows you to choose from 9 different payment methods, including all major credit/debit cards and PayPal, and from all major currencies of the world.

To contact Resumonk, you can either send the company an email or you can leave a message via the contact form. This is not too much, but despite the lack of the telephone and live chat assistance, and a proper social media presence, the company provides quick support to its customers.

If you are looking for other ways of support, you can always turn to the knowledge base full of information about the software, the premium plan(s), and how to get started, but you can also find short, useful tips regarding resume writing, over 500 keywords for resumes, and sample CVs and cover letters. You can also get help from reading the articles of Resumonk’s blog – where you can write articles as well – and there is an option to download a free 4-chapter long eBook about resume writing.

Bottom line

Resumonk is a good choice for anyone who wants nothing other from a cloud-based resume builder than creating nice looking CVs within a short period of time. If you need a resume builder just once, then the Free plan with 4 templates, LinkedIn resume integration and PDF download option is perfectly enough, but to truly exploit Resumonk’s powers, choose the annual/lifetime subscription.

However, it is quite sad that with or without subscription you cannot send your CVs directly from the software, resumes with the photo templates cannot be downloaded in DOCX, and the live support options are a bit limited. Despite these disadvantages, the force is still strong with Resumonk. Many templates, nicely designed cover letters, analytical tracking of visitors, a support with a knowledge base, tips on the site and in eBook format, and a blog awaits you if you become a subscriber of Resumonk.
