My VPN Testimonial: StrongVPN

My personal experience with VPNs began when I had to coordinate with an offshore team that was pitching in from 2 other countries. My requirement was to be able to securely communicate and collaboratively develop a particular web product.

After careful consideration, I ended up selecting StrongVPN to create my personal virtual private network. The major reason for this was the fact that this particular VPN service provider had set up high-speed servers in countries where my team was then situated. Having a speedy server, they ensured that there wouldn’t be any connectivity problems, and that the VPN would end up being a very reliable one. The fact that this company had been providing internet services since 1995 was also a promising factor for me.

When it came to setting up the VPN service, I had a choice of setting up the service with PPTP, L2TP, SSTP or OpenVPN accounts. They even offered software for automated setup that would automatically set up and configure the VPN. This was compatible with both my PCs and my team’s Macintosh users.

Once set up, the VPN was exceptionally responsive and reliable. Since I was doing all this for the first time, I had decided to play it safe, and opted for the “lite” package that provided a three-month PPTP setup for a mere $21. However, after just a month of use, I was sure that my choice was right and I, therefore, moved on to one of their annual plans called Deluxe PPTP, which set me back by $155. One of the things I would like to point out is their fraud check system. At the time of payment, I was reminded not to use a proxy or a VPN while making my payments, as that would be flagged as suspicious activity.
