With so many VoIP providers on the market, it is virtually impossible to handpick the one that perfectly suits you. However, if the company you are eyeing has many features and it also provides some extras that could make your business related calls run even smoother, that’s a good start. And this is exactly what FreedomVoice and eVoice offer: the usual list of VoIP features, affordable pricing and 30-day free trials with some nice surprises you can get either for free or as an extra.
But the final, most important question is: which one has the better offer?

FreedomVoice has already served over 200k users since its foundation in 1996 and will serve even more thanks to the acquisition by GoDaddy in 2016. Regardless of the plan you choose, you get everything: smart number routing or simultaneous ringing, ring groups, immediate call forwarding, call whispering, determining opening hours and dynamic caller ID, just to name a few. As a FreedomVoice user, you and an unlimited amount of users can enjoy unlimited line capacities distributed between unlimited extensions, provide your callers a company directory, check out a visual call report, send voice messages to a list of numbers and even use the (outbound) fax on demand feature. Voicemails are auto-compressed to occupy less space and they are also protected by password so no unauthorized person can see them without your permission. Your account can be managed from a computer or the iPhone/Android app, and it also supports integration with third-party softphones, namely CounterPath. You can add extra features to the above vast list by paying an extra fee as well: professional greetings, call recording (which is present in the app), voicemail transcription, name/address capturing and even extra storage space for your messages.
New FreedomVoice users can choose from customized business pricing plans or the 3 default plans starting from $9.95 per month and including up to 3,000 minutes. All plans include a 30-day free trial, the option to add any kind of phone number to your system (except international ones) and you can also rent desk phones for a small extra.
No matter whether you live in the U.S. or in Canada, j2 Global, the company behind eVoice provides you all features necessary for setting up your new cloud phone system. You have the option to route your calls, set up your system to ring extensions sequentially or simultaneously, as well as email notifications or push notifications of missed calls or voicemails. You can also forward international numbers to your number without paying extra, associate direct dial numbers to your colleagues, organize conference calls for up to 100 people and customize click-to-call widgets you can place on your website. With the exception of true 800 and international numbers, you can use any kind of number with eVoice, including those you port from another provider for free. You can also purchase extra services, including the option to send and receive online faxes and business related text messages, commence web and video conferences, have international numbers, record calls, get your voicemails transcribed and even substitute your auto-attendant with live receptionists.
Regardless of which plan you choose from the 4 available Professional or Small Business ones, you get all the above features, the option to include the aforementioned extras, a free iPhone/Android app, and integrations with other j2 products like eFax for as low as $12.99 per month. By default, each subscription comes with 2 phone lines, a certain amount of free minutes for placing calls, a 30-day free trial and 24/7 customer support.
Truth is, choosing between these two companies is not easy at all, because both have a great share of very similar features. However, to pick a winner, you always have to go deeper. FreedomVoice has a more traditional approach, but not every company can tell that it includes seemingly unnecessary functions that are actually clever. The inclusion of fax on demand, the ability to capture calls, the option to password-protect and compress your voicemails, and setting up ring group are all nice additions to your subscription. On the other hand, eVoice brings 2 separate phone lines, click-to-call widgets, live receptionists, audio, web and video conferencing, business text messaging, and true faxing to the mix.
No matter which company ends up being your winner, you get a vast list of features, useful extras, handy apps, third-party software integration, affordable pricing and a 30-day free trial during which you can make up your mind about your chosen one.
