Windows users can choose Windows Web Server 2008 R2, and can also choose to have the Parallels Plesk Panel 10.4 software (64bit) installed.

Security

The services offered by 1&1 come with security features as well. They provide SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificates for security in personal data exchange. The data you host with them is also secured by a 250GB secure FTP backup solution that is available with every plan.

Plans and pricing

1&1 has four plans on offer, and each plan is designed to suit the needs of different people. There’s the Virtual Server “L” plan, which starts at $29 per month, and comes with up to 2GB of DDR RAM, and 20GB of RAID 5-based storage. This plan comes with a bandwidth cap of 1000GB per month. Then, there’s the Virtual Server “XL” plan for those who need a bit more. This plan comes with 4GB of RAM, 40GB of RAID 5-based storage, and 2000GB of bandwidth per month. It is priced at $34.99. The third plan, priced at $49.99, is the Virtual “XXL” plan that comes with 8GB of RAM, 80GB of RAID 5-based storage, and a bandwidth of 2500GB per month.

The fourth and final plan, the Dynamic Cloud Server, is the plan that offers dedicated resources with maximum flexibility and scalability features. You can add up to 99 virtual machines under a single contract and the costs are transparent, with hourly billings.
