In a fight between a lion and a squirrel, who wins? In the wild, it’s easy to guess the winner. However, in the browsing jungle, things may not be so obvious. UC Browser has been on the market for more than two decades and, like the squirrel, provides blazing fast speeds. On the other hand, Brave is a more recent addition to the industry and has the lion’s courage to transform the online advertisement ecosystem. Though they are pretty different from each other they both bring a lot to the table. UC Browser and Brave come with various neat built-in features, are Chromium-based, and both seem, on the surface at least, fantastic.

Overview comparison for UC Browser, Brave

UC Browser

Though it has a Windows version, UC Browser was designed mainly for mobile. Due to its excellent user interface and built-in features, it’s easy to understand why it is one of the most popular browsers for Android.

UC Browser

On mobile UC Browser is fast and runs very smoothly. Moreover, besides excelling on the browsing part of the application, UC Browser provides some neat built-in features that eliminate the need to install other apps. It’s possible to manage stored videos, clean files from the device, add social media channels, among others. If that isn’t enough, UC Browser also gives you the possibility to add extensions, making sure you can do almost everything on your mobile without leaving the application.

If UC Browser seems too good to be true, that’s probably because it is. UC Browser offers some of the worst privacy protection and security in the industry. Not only does our own antivirus block UC Browser’s official download page, but it also restricts links advertised on the browser’s home page as well. Furthermore, comments from UC Browser’s users complaining that they got a virus on their phones are common, and there is evidence that the browser has leaked sensitive personal data in the past. This makes it impossible to use this browser without feeling insecure, even if it is technically an excellent browser.

Brave

Brave has a very different approach compared to UC Browser when it comes to privacy and security. With Brave, it’s possible to enforce an HTTPS connection, stop cross-site trackers, and block social media logins on third-party sites. Moreover, Brave also offers a built-in ad blocker, anti-fingerprinting, and has a no-log policy. In other words, it makes sure you can browse the web without sharing your personal data.

Brave

Brave’s privacy and security features are great, but what separates this browser from its competitors the most is the advertisement system Brave Rewards. It’s not required, but with Brave Rewards you can choose to watch Brave’s ads where you receive 15% of the money made and tip 70% to your favorite publishers and creators.

On mobile Brave is a reliable browser that’s available on both Android and iOS. Though there are a few features that still need to make the jump to mobile, Brave offers all the security and privacy shields, as well as the built-in ad blocker. Unfortunately, it’s only possible to sync bookmarks between devices.

Conclusion

It’s a shame the number of problems UC Browser has regarding security and privacy. Especially for mobile, it really is an excellent browser that delivers way more than its competitors. However, we just can’t recommend a piece of software that could possibly infect your device. On the other hand, Brave is a breath of fresh air that offers an excellent array of built-in features, protects your personal data, and it’s changing the online advertisement system. Everything considered, it seems the lion is the clear king of the browsing jungle.
