Although our review is about PC Repair, it is just one of the many computer optimization programs developed by Microsoft’s partner, TweakBit. In fact, the company shamelessly advertises all its additional software – like a driver updater, an anti-malware, a PC speed up tool and many others – not only during the installation of PC Repair, but when using the program as well. Even though this way you can access more exclusive features, this is the main reason why TweakBit’s website may be flagged as a potential threat or even downright blocked by some of the best-known antiviruses. However, we can assure you that PC Repair poses no threat at all. In fact, the program works well as a whole, as it can perform thorough scans and find whichever items may be harmful to your computer. Registry errors or tracking cookies, duplicate files or system errors – PC Repair will find them for you whether you’re using the free trial or you are enjoying the full version via a subscription.

PC Repair lets you perform a considerable amount of tasks with its default version. You can not only get access to the scanning results log and the always handy scan scheduler, but you are also allowed to find unnecessary duplicatescompact your registry or customize your system. In fact, the program is optimized to make your computer have a better performance and, obviously, to repair any issue that might occur. Speaking of the latter, there’s an entire section of the program dedicated to recovering previous computer configurations, thus you don’t have to be afraid of being unable to undo certain actions.

TweakBit PC Repair features

However, aside from being Windows-exclusive, the thing with PC Repair is that if you simply download the default version of the software from TweakBit’s website, you will be able to perform nothing but computer scans – albeit for free. Furthermore, not even paid subscribers can enjoy the program to its fullest, because some features will still be blocked, unless you download separate programs. These programs include a driver updater, computer boot up boosters or a web search option with built-in ad-blocker and site advisor.

Despite the handy option to be schedule, scanning gave us mixed results. This is mostly due to the fact that scans take pretty long: during our test, the more than 13,000 issues we had on our computer were found way beyond the 5 minute mark. To make things even more confusing, scans are inconsistent: sometimes everything runs smooth and steady, but it can be easily ruined within seconds by sky-high CPU usage levels. This latter issue can be especially annoying, since it can momentarily freeze your entire machine, preventing you from doing anything else but running and finishing the scan (as you can’t even stop the process).

On the other hand, you are allowed to take a closer look at some hidden details not every other registry cleaner provides. The data you receive includes your system’s technical information, stored passwords and their security level or even browser leftovers from potentially dangerous websites, like adult, copyright violation, drug and gun trafficking or gambling content. Unfortunately though, PC Repair is not always on top with these results, since not all of them are 100% accurate.

Like we mentioned before, scanning is the only thing you can do with the free PC Repair version, since every other feature requires upgrading. But once done, you’ll be able to fix all issues easily and in no time.

You have access to individual errors found during the scans, but keep in mind that you have no other option than to wipe everything at once. This is why PC Repair has a clever life boat prepared for you: a nice rescue center. By using this feature you can not only access previous restore points created automatically during repairs, but you can also go back to any other configuration prior to any Windows update.

Pricing

If you only want to scan your computer for issues, you can have PC Repair for free for an unlimited time. However, if you want more than scans, you have no choice but to upgrade.

To unlock the power of the full version and have access to such features as the registry compact tool and system customization, you have to pay $59.99 with all major credit cards, PayPal, wire transfer or WebMoney. However, if you allow TweakBit to “spam” your computer with PCBooster, you can have PC Repair for only $29.99, a price that includes the aforementioned additional program too. Last but not least, if you’re not happy with the product, TweakBit offers you a 30-day money back guarantee with which you can get a full refund with no questions asked.

Customer service

If any questions arise before purchasing or during the use of PC Repair, there are a couple ways you can find a solution. You can always visit the pretty detailed FAQ page which contains answers to all major questions and even the user manuals of not only PC Repair but any other TweakBit software too. In case your issue is more serious than expected, you can make a phone call using the 24/7 toll free phone line in the (U.S. and Canada only) or submit a ticket directly from the company’s website. Unfortunately if you were expecting TweakBit to be fully active on social media, you will be disappointed: all the posts shared on Facebook and Twitter were created eons ago and none of these pages have been updated in years.

Bottom line

PC Repair is a bit of a mixed bag as long as you use the default version of the software. The full potential of everything TweakBit has to offer only gets unleashed the moment you install the other PC optimization solutions this Microsoft partner has developed and sells you in a bit of a pushy way. Though the software is often identified as a threat by some antivirus software, we’ve found that it holds no harm. If you put aside the minor nuisances caused by the attempts to upsell you into other optimization features, you have a decent registry cleaner with some interesting features, such as the innovative system customization. Considering the special offer (2 software for the price of 1), pricing is not expensive at all, since you’ll be paying the equivalent of around $2.50 per month. And if we add the nice 30-day money back guarantee to the mix, we can firmly say that PC Repair is worth a try.

The TweakBit Driver Updater uses false and misleading sales push. They quoted me a ‘discounted’ price of $14.98 and when I have agreed to that price the TweakBit charged me $36 and sneaked in another one. I was shaken but has tried it anyway. The Driver Updater scanned my computer and installed 3 ‘updated’ drivers. Unfortunately, after reboot, my computer lost all keyboard input and can’t be unlocked. I had switched to the onscreen-keyboard and was able to restore my system to its un-TweakedBit state. Do not touch this malware even with a long pole.

I was having slow down problems and searched for a program to help. After looking at a few reviews that were overall positive Tweakbit seemed legit so I dl’d the program paid for it and ran it. After running it a window came up saying I had issues with speed and I thought it was funny cause as far as I knew I had just installed & ran it. When I tried to run it took me back to the window to pay for it AGAIN. I called & they said I had only purchased the repair program & if I wanted the speed up program that would be extra and also a technician would have to get on my computer to fix any problems. That set off alarms as this is similar to the “You Have A Virus” pop up scams where they get on your computer & wipe you out. There was no information about all the additional charges when I purchased what I thought was a program to help speed issues and that is my biggest complaint. I did not get what I paid for. I would not recommend getting involved with this.

AVG lured me in with their PC Tuneup for a year, but it wasn’t doing much optimizing of my PC… I decided to give Tweakbit a go some time ago, “tweaking” around a bit did the trick for me. The main problem for me earlier was my browsers (Firefox in particular, despite clearing history, cookies, and such).
