Like everything in life, the older computer components get, the more likely they fail. And as in real life we visit a doctor for an in depth analysis of our health, we also turn to the doctors of PCs when they are in trouble: registry cleaners and PC optimization tools. SmartPCFixer can be considered one of the best overall digital medics for PCs. Brought to you by official Microsoft partner LionSea Software since 2002, this software can run on all Windows operating systems including old relic Windows 2000. From the moment you download the program you are given the opportunity to fully customize it, setting a wide range of options to make SmartPCFixer run according to your own preferences. You can also choose between scanning your entire machine and picking only the specific areas you want to see being put to test. And to make this program even more attractive, you can perform scans for free by simply downloading the desktop client.
Regarding its variety of features, SmartPCFixer is one of the most complete and useful registry cleaners out there. Besides presenting a wide range of different settings and configurations, you can fully customize your client by ticking a few boxes. However, if you’re not too keen on messing with the settings or you just want to get into the action as soon as possible, you can use three pre-configured modes (Default, Home Mode or Office Mode) and simply let the program adapt to your needs.
Since its developer is partnered with Microsoft, the program is only available for Windows operating systems. Even though this seems to be a con at first, this partnership allowed LionSea to come up with a rather unique feature called Windows Update. Not to be confused with the default updater of Windows operating systems, this feature checks your system and only updates it when it is truly needed. Furthermore, this feature can correct mistakes certain updates contain, which comes handy for all users, especially for those using Microsoft’s notorious and allegedly last OS, Windows 10.
Other than the above, there are also a whole lot of other interesting features such as the ActiveX blocker, IE manager, the scheduler, the file splitter and shredder, the uninstall manager, DLL download, disk defragmentation and the list could go on till eternity. In other words: you name it, and SmartPCFixer offers it.
As scanning is the first stage of error detection, it is important to have a program that doesn’t take too long to find whatever issues your device has. Unfortunately, that’s not the case with SmartPCFixer: it needed 9 minutes to scan the entire test machine and find all 786 items to be either fixed or removed. Truth be told, this is quite unsatisfactory at first, but remember that the program’s performance always depends on various factors such as how much content you have on your computer and which scanning options you enable. For the record, we used the default scanning settings.
Still, scanning your PC with SmartPCFixer is always a smooth experience, because the overall CPU usage always remains consistent.
Before jumping into the repairs, it is important to remember two things. The first is that this provider does indeed create backups and restore points, radically decreasing the potential risk of serious harm to your computer while the fixing process is on. Second, you cannot manually choose what to delete from the threat list, even though you can see all threats and filter them by location after each scan. This means that you can only fix all issues at once, which, due to the aforementioned restore points, is just a minor nuance you have to live with.
However, if you go deeper into SmartPCFixer’s already extensive range of features by navigating throughout the versatile menus, you can find out that deleting is not your sole option. In fact, you are given the chance of fixing some issues, instead of deleting them altogether, an option that is often more effective than using “heavy artillery”.
If you are willing to purchase SmartPCFixer, be aware that its pricing structure is not consistent at all. The reason behind this inconsistency is the fact that the company behind this software often offers different promotions and flash sales to the general public. This is ok if you aim at discounts, but far from ideal if you want to compare SmartPCFixer with other products before making the final decision.
With that being said, SmartPCFixer is available in three versions. Your first option is a 7-day trial of the unlimited software which is only $5.99. The other option is the annual subscription (the only one available), costing $59.90 with a nice 60-day money back guarantee. However, if you need only the testing and scanning features, you can download a limited version free of charge.
As for payment methods, SmartPCFixer uses MyCommerce for any online transactions and accepts credit cards or PayPal.
SmartPCFixer’s customer service is a two-edged knife. Although the staff claims they are available 24/7, the social media pages can be considered dead, and the only real contact method, the e-mail support, still requires you to submit a ticket. Despite this minor annoyance, requests are answered in a promptly manner within 1 business day.
However, SmartPCFixer makes up for the above mistake by providing a quite over the top FAQ page and dedicated articles covering more specific topics. You can also visit a page where help documents can be found and check the innovative screenshots page if you need a user guide with illustrations. Last but not least, you can also head to a very complete and useful blog full of several how-to guides and much other content.
In conclusion, SmartPCFixer is a program that is worth its price. Whether you use a registry cleaner for the first time or you have tried this radical method before, the software provides an easy and smooth experience in a simple interface. It is far from perfect as the customer support is a hit and miss, while the pricing policy is nothing but a big mess.
The fact that you can set your own preferences, or opt for the default ones, is definitely a huge advantage of this program. SmartPCFixer also performs well regarding other features such as simple scans, the full customization of the client and the unique Windows Update. What’s more important is that the program never lets you lose any important files thanks to backups, restore points and the option to fix errors instead of deleting them. Although we already stated our problems with the pricing policy, SmartPCFixer is still affordable, especially if you make use of the many temporary promotions or the free version.

I also found that Norton Internet Security was a problem for this software so I asked for a refund. After 2 attempts by Support to keep me they refunded me in full
I tried the software. It didn’t work for me. The company was very responsive and suggested I try a few more things but they didn’t work either. They promptly refunded my money. Very easy to deal with. I wish the software was as efficient as their customer service.
I am another victim of this crook software. Written twice to its support to cancel the annual registration fee. They wouldn’t listen to you and will try to buy time until you are charged. Watch out for people who are behind this. You will waste your time and effort in filling the dispute with paypal.
I had exactly the same problem as Tammy and regretfully, went for the seven day trial. I didn’t spot the fine print indicating an annual fee of $60.70 AUD, what I shock. Needless to say, the software is a piece of poo. I emailed for a refund, but, after reading your comments, I won’t hold my breath for a reply. I immediately cancelled the recurring payment with PayPal and initiated a dispute. Fingers crossed. All these so called registry cleaners and optimisers, even WinZip, offer a trial, then suck you in to an annual fee. They must be joking, but they’re not, lol.
Same happened to me as for Tammy & Deborah & RDB & Louis Joe.
Watch out people !!
I tried the 7-day trial. The program did not fix my computer problem but I figured that was why there was a trial. Three times in ever more explicit terms I cancelled the trial and told the company not to proceed with a year-long subscription, to cancel it. As I expected, the bill for the renewal appeared in my mail box this morning. Ironically, I do not even have the program now: it was eaten by the problem it promised to resolve! This is a very unethical company. I have shown the lowest ratings this review site will permit, which are still higher than Smart PC Fixer deserves.
Pure scam. Nearly impossible to get a refund. still trying to get PayPal fee refunded. Don’t even try the trial version. When it expires they bill full price
