Interview with MetroFax’ Sales Manager

Interview with MetroFax’ Sales Manager

MetroFax‘ roots go all the way back to 1997, the early days of the internet when faxing through a fax machine was still the popular way of communicating and transferring documents. Today, MetroFax is one of the leading internet fax providers and solely focuses on online faxing, unlike many of the other players. Because of this focus, the company manages to go further than its competitors and regularly introduces new updates to its services with the great new features. We decided to ask a few questions to Lynn Seely of MetroFax to learn more about its faxing services and their views on the future of faxing.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us what you do at MetroFax?

My name is Lynn Seely and I am the Sales Manager of MetroFax.

What makes MetroFax a better choice than, for example, eFax or another FoIP solution?

MetroFax has unmatched reliability and support. Being that we do not use VOIP to transmit the faxes, we have a lower percentage of dropped or partial faxes, and have no trouble transmitting many page documents. Plus, we do not outsource any portion of our support so when clients do have an issue they can rest assured that they will get prompt trouble resolution with MetroFax.

How easy is it to transfer an existing fax number to MetroFax?

In many cases we are able to transfer numbers to MetroFax, but this is dependent upon if the current provider will release the number and also where the number originates from. The process takes 10-14 business days and there is a one-time porting fee of $24.95.

What makes MetroFax suitable for businesses of all sizes?

Whether you are a small business with a few numbers or a large company that needs 100s of numbers, MetroFax has many plans to fit your specific needs. Plus, with our low per page rate of just three cents it is nearly impossible to not save money with MetroFax. For more info, check out our top 7 of businesses that can benefit from MetroFax.

How secure is faxing through MetroFax?

We are happy to help companies with their security requirements. By default we attempt to send all transmissions in TLS encryption and resort to basic SMTP delivery only when the mail server we are sending to cannot communicate in TLS encryption. In the end, much of the security of the faxes depends on how secure a user’s email is. If clients find that their email is not secure, we recommend that they receive a notification only to their email letting them know a fax has arrived, and then they would login to our secure web interface to retrieve the fax.

Can MetroFax be used for fax marketing?

While MetroFax does allow you to send to multiple recipients (up to 1,000 at a time) we do adhere to the FCC regulations in place regarding unsolicited faxing.

Why should people use mobile faxing while on the road, instead of using an email message?

While many people use email on their phone these days, our Android and iPhone mobile apps allow you to take a picture of a document and upload it to fax out—this allows you to send a fax without the need for a scanner. The mobile apps are free downloads, all you need are your MetroFax login credentials. Our mobile apps make faxing more convenient and accessible to meet the busy needs of our clients.

Why does faxing still have a reason for existence in business environments in 2013?

While many people use email, there are government and medical organizations that still require a fax for security. That’s why MetroFax takes security very serious, we want to offer our clients the convenience and savings of MetroFax but still assist them in adhering to the security requirements. Also, there is no better way to fax to multiple recipients or to integrate with EMRs and CRMs.

Which new features can we expect in your mobile apps in the coming months?

We just recently released a new version of both mobile apps so I do not have any information on what features will be in the next release.

Best Reviews would like to thank Lynn and the rest of the MetroFax team for doing this interview with us!
