Getflix is a smart DNS company with Turkish roots. Founded in 2012, the organization is very keen on providing access to Netflix and over one hundred other broadcasts online. Even though Getflix is a standalone smart DNS service, you can use it together with other types of online safety and unblocking products. For example, some DNS servers of the company are compatible with any VPN network, creating additional unblocking possibilities. Furthermore, Getflix’s prices are great; this, combined with the simplistic way of connecting to a smart DNS server, makes Getflix a decent service to take a look at. If you are interested in a tryout, you can always sign up for the 14-day free trial of the company.

In every case of setting Getflix up, you have to do so manually. There is no need to become discouraged; the process itself is easy to begin with, and you will be done in a matter of minutes even if you are not adept at using computers or any other device you want to enable smart DNS on. Additionally, Getflix has useful guides to help you out if you do get stuck.

To cut a not so long story short, manual setup means accessing the properties of your internet connection (and not the hardware related to it) and simply typing in DNS addresses manually. Getflix is very helpful in this matter as well; the addresses themselves are easily accessible and are sorted on a country to country basis. In the case of every manual setup, we recommend assigning both a primary and a secondary DNS address. The second one not only serves as a backup, but if the primary connection runs into some difficulties, you can still continue on via the second one. And, do not forget that by typing in two different countries’ addresses, you unblock websites for both of them.

There is another thing you must do before setting up any kind of smart DNS: registering your IP address in the client area of the official website. This is extremely easy and can be done with the simple click of a button. It’s also here that you can change your regional settings, choosing which country’s content you want to unblock. This can be done on a streamer to streamer basis, meaning that you can enable access to Amazon Prime for example, and even enable subtitles, all from your browser. The number of regions is 27, more than the number of countries that have a smart DNS address.

Channels and streaming services

With us being a fan of puns and wordplay, we cannot not notice the face that Getflix’s name – for some unexplainable reason – resembles Netflix’s name. And yes, there is a connection between the two; the company strongly advertises this particular channel’s availability with their help. This is not that surprising; Netflix is gaining a lot of ground on the online streaming market nowadays. Of course, there are other broadcasts you can view. On the Getflix Channels site, there is a distinct section reserved for Hulu, Amazon, M Go and Vudu movies. Overall, there are over one hundred programs to view on the internet, this is an average number.

Smart DNS network

Getflix has a decent set of countries to connect to; you visit up to 20 different parts of the world. Interestingly, the distribution of servers is not like in the cases of other smart DNS companies. Getflix actually favors Australian and New Zealander residents with four and two servers, respectively. Out of the 26 servers, this indicates a strong regional support. The only other country to have multiple servers at hand is the United States.

VPN service

Getflix as a company does not run its own VPN service, but in some cases, you can use the smart DNS network in unison with a VPN. On the setup page of Getflix’s website, the complete list of DNS addresses is displayed. In a separate column next to these, there is a tick inserted if that particular address can be used on top of a VPN. Thus, you can do both VPN and smart DNS in countries like Australia, Canada, Denmark, the UK, New Zealand, Malaysia, Japan, Spain, Turkey or the US.

Privacy protection

The privacy policy of Getflix is acceptable. Similarly to most other smart DNS companies, this one too collects some information. However, Getflix divides this collected data into two categories: personally identifiable, and non-personal. The former includes data like your name, e-mail address and billing information – this is standard information, as the company needs to know who it actually is that buys their services. For the non-personal part, there are few more specific categories. To quote the official text, the “browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users means of connection to our Site” are stored, mostly in order to improve the website. But then again, if you do not want such info to be revealed, even the privacy policy states that you can connect to the website with some sort of cloaking mechanism, like encryptions.

Getflix’s device support is not the best, though it is still good. Operating systems favored include Windows, more specifically 7, 8, Vista and Windows 10. Apple’s Mac is also welcome; mostly Mac OS X is the one you should consider working with. Linux however, is not available.

For gaming consoles, you can enjoy Getflix on PS3, PS4, Xbox360, Xbox One, Wii and Wii U as well. Mobile and other devices include Android, the iPhone and iPad, Roku, Apple TV and WD TV Live. Therefore, the main focus of things is on computers and mobile devices we feel. Smart televisions and other media outlets are generally sparse in availability. This is a bit surprising, given how strong the company is intertwined with Netflix access; still, this device support is acceptable, but it is average in the context of other companies’ selections.

Pricing

Prices are a tad better than average with Getflix. Before you jump into any unnecessary payments, we would like to call attention to the 14-day free trial the company offers. This generous gesture is even more valuable if you take into account that you can try out Getflix without any restrictions. We would also like to commend the informative tone the company conveys information in. For example, there is explicit mention of a now defunct discount on their pricing page. The current commotion policy of Getflix is that if you decide to own multiple accounts, all purchases on the ones other than your first are 25% off. Furthermore, with the pricing page being so informative, it seems that while you can cancel your account any time, you do not get a refund for the remaining duration you leave behind.

Range of packages offered by Getflix

As far as the prices themselves go, you can Get one month of Flix for $3.95. This is already a favorable offer. Three months cost $10.67 ($3.55 per month) – this offer is 10% off. Half a year means a payment of $18.96 ($3.16 per month), which is 20% cheaper. And finally, the annual plan fares at $33.18 ($2.76 per month), at 30% off. Thus, you get to pay less and less on a monthly basis as you purchase Getflix for longer and longer durations.

To quote the official website regarding payment methods, the company says they “accept PayPal as well as all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB.”

The main method of communicating with Getflix is via their contact form. Access to it can be found at the bottom of almost every page. Even though this is the only significant array of communication, customer service is available 24/7 at least. Alternatively, if you live near Western Turkey, you can visit the company personally – their address is supplied on the same page. Getflix also has some presence on social media; you can find them on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and the company also has a less active YouTube channel. We would like to highlight Twitter here, though; next to mostly Netflix related news, the Getflix staff actively replies to anyone who has questions.Getflix.com.au

Bottom line

To sum up, Getflix is just a bit above average as a smart DNS service. The case is such because the selection of channels is a bit less than elsewhere, and the same can be told about device support. There are some great possibilities for this company, though. VPN support is a welcomed change, and the prices are also lower than average. We also like the fact that despite customer service having less methods of contact, those are present work well, and Twitter based help is very useful for quick info. You still have two free weeks to try out Getflix, and being curious is a virtue.
