Gabb Phone 3 Pro is a smartphone designed for kids and teens that encourages healthy digital habits. It’s the perfect solution for parents wanting to give their children the freedom of communication while shielding them from the potential dangers of unrestricted internet access.
It’s free from social media and internet browsers, provides approved and filtered apps, unlimited calls and texts, and lets parents monitor their children’s location and communication. It offers three different plans to choose from, can be purchased with a discount of up to 16.7%, and is covered by a 15-day refund policy.
This phone’s OS is GabbOS, which is a limited version of Android 13 designed specifically to protect kids from the dangers of online interactions and content. It doesn’t include social media apps or an internet browser, and there’s absolutely no option to install them.
Additionally, the Gabb Phone comes with pre-installed essential apps developed by Gabb to ensure they’re completely safe. It includes apps for music, gallery, fitness, calendar, camera, clock, messages, and more.
The Gabb Phone is manufactured by Samsung and is a carbon copy of Samsung’s Galaxy A13 model. However, since it’s designed for kids, it’s limited in features, which doesn’t take from the overall quality of the device’s hardware:
These specifications ensure that the smartphone can handle many tasks without compromising performance. Plus, its generous screen size, high-quality cameras, and long-lasting battery life make it a perfect choice for kids who need a reliable device for communication, education, and entertainment. Plus, its parental controls allow for a safe and customizable user experience.
Gabb offers unlimited calls and texts via a wireless network provided by Verizon. In addition to the 32GB of internal storage, Gabb has a microSD slot that unlocks plenty more storage potential. This ensures that kids have enough space for all their apps, photos, and videos.
The Gabb Messenger app is a safe alternative to the likes of Whatsapp or Facebook Messenger. It’s monitored by Gabb Guard, and includes SMS, MMS, group chat, voice notes, and parent-to-kid video. There’s also a separate app designed for parents to monitor all their child’s communications.
Gabb Guard is an automatic spam-flagging and blocking feature that monitors messages and calls. It doesn’t require parental input, as it works in the background, flagging or blocking any suspicious number that tries to reach the child. In addition, it scans for dangerous URL links, unknown message requests, messages with profanities, and more.
Additionally, the phone has top-tier cameras that allow kids to capture precious moments through snapshots or videos. To safeguard these, the phone includes Gabb Cloud – 10GB, 25GB, or 50GB cloud storage (depending on subscription) exclusive to Gabb devices with daily automatic backups. Apart from photos and videos, it backs up device settings, contacts, and presets.
Gabb phones connect to Wi-Fi so kids can listen to Gabb Music, keep in touch with friends and family, and make use of certain apps. Furthermore, Gabb’s top-tier subscription includes 3GB of data per month with the option to upgrade to 5 or 10GB. This restricted internet access also allows kids to download pre-approved apps from the exclusive and safe Gabb App Store.
Naturally, all Gabb’s apps are carefully reviewed, taking into account violent, explicit, and generally mature content to ensure they’re suitable for children. Nonetheless, parents and guardians should still keep a close eye on which third-party apps are enabled, as these haven’t been pre-approved by Gabb.
Gabb Phone also includes an exclusive app, Gabb Music+, as an add-on. It’s an ad-free music streaming service that only features non-explicit songs. It allows kids to search for music, like and dislike tracks, create playlists, and even download their favorite songs.
For parents, Gabb provides three ways to monitor their child’s phone – one via its website, and the other two with apps. For example, to enable the download of additional apps, parents must log in to their Gabb account on the company’s website and choose from Gabb’s selected list of apps.
To monitor communication via text or call, there’s Gabb Messenger Parent. It’s available for Android and iOS and notifies parents when dangerous content is found in video calls or messages. Depending on the severity, it either blocks or flags content, based on whether it came from a known or unknown contact.
In addition to this, Gabb lets parents manage the phone’s contact list and approve who can send or receive messages via the MyGabb app. Also available for iOS and Android, the app includes a GPS with a geofencing system. This allows parents to track their child’s location and set up virtual boundaries.
It also lets them monitor multiple Gabb devices for families with more than one child. Unfortunately, it doesn’t provide a history log of locations, meaning that it’s only possible to get real-time location information. Although these features keep parents in control, the fact that there are three different ways of monitoring means the experience is less than smooth.
The Gabb Phone setup process is straightforward and will take less than a few minutes. For added security, it’s recommended that you start by setting a password, PIN, unlock pattern, or fingerprint to lock the device. Then, to activate it, parents must be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or mobile data and create a Gabb profile for their child using the Gabb ID app.
Gabb offers three subscription plans: Starter, Standard, and Advanced. These can be paid for with a 1-year, 2-year, or monthly contract (the latter can be canceled at any time). The best deal comes with 2-year contracts for any of the plans since parents get a 16.7% discount compared to no-term contracts. However, the cheapest option is Starter for $24.99 per month, which includes unlimited messages and calls, essential apps, and 10GB of cloud backup.
For an additional $5 per month, Standard also includes Gabb Music and other features like group texting. Advanced is the most feature-rich, and it includes all the mentioned features plus the option for parents to enable third-party apps and a mobile data plan with 3GB.
Gabb allows customers to bundle or upgrade their subscriptions. For example, for an additional monthly fee, it’s possible to add Gabb Music or a 1-year warranty covering device damage due to spills or drops to Standard. In addition, bundling multiple Gabb devices under a single account provides users with a family rate, which can significantly reduce the overall cost for households.
The company also offers parents the option to purchase accessories such as a phone case, screen protector, and even a Gabb speaker. Gabb devices have a 15-day refund policy, allowing parents to get to know Gabb without taking a financial risk. Its payment options include credit cards like Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Liberty, and Discover.
To help parents with Gabb devices, the company provides a thorough help center with tutorials, FAQs, tips for account management, articles on getting started, and designated guides for each device. If this is still not enough, there’s also support via email or live chat from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. (MT), and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (MT) on Saturdays.
We recommend using live chat whenever possible since it’s the fastest way to get help. We received a friendly and straightforward answer through this channel. Gabb maintains a social media presence on Facebook, X, Pinterest, YouTube, and Instagram, where parents can access assistance – although this may take longer than its official support channels.
Gabb Phone 3 Pro is certainly a good option for any parent looking to provide their child with a safe introduction to mobile phones. It has excellent specs and offers handy features to keep kids safely connected to family and friends without exposing them to the dangers of social media or internet browsing.
It includes tools that automatically detect and block dangerous interactions, parent-enabled apps, a designated safe app store, music streaming without explicit content, backups, mobile data, and more. All this is possible while letting parents keep track of their kids’ location in real time and set safe zones.
Fortunately, parents can take advantage of the company’s 15-day refund policy and try the service without risk. In addition, it’s possible to get the phone with a discount of up to 16.7%, or even get multiple Gabb devices for less with the family rates.
