FaxBetter gives you a dedicated toll-free fax number, and you can use the service in a limited capacity for free for as long as you like. When people send faxes to you, the service converts them to digital documents and then emails them to you.

You can send your documents via email and FaxBetter will transmit them for you as outgoing faxes. When you have a lot of faxed pages to deal with, you can search through them in your archives on the FaxBetter website.

Plans and pricing

You can sign up for a no-charge FaxBetter Free account, which entitles you to a free toll-free fax number and the ability to receive up to 20 faxed pages for free each month. The company sends you an email when you have received 10 pages during any 30-day period, to let you know that you have nearly reached your allotted faxes. FaxBetter hides any additional pages until you upgrade to a paid account.

The free FaxBetter account does not let you send out faxes, but it does give you about 1,000 pages of storage. You can also try out a 30-day free trial to use the fax to email service and the searchable faxes feature, and if you determine that these features will be useful to you on an ongoing basis, you can get them by signing up for a paid account.

FaxBetter’s paid account costs as low as $5.95 per month, which gives you your own toll-free fax number, and the ability to send and receive up to 500 faxed pages. All your faxes are searchable.

After 501 pages, the company will bill you $15, or $0.06 per page for 250 pages. You don’t have to use all 250 pages in that billing period, as they carry over from month to month. What’s more, you get lifetime storage for all your faxed pages. There is no activation fee to sign up for the free or paid plans.

Is FaxBetter easy to use?

FaxBetter is an easy service to use. After you sign up, you can give out your new fax number to people, and then use your email client, or log in to your Webmail account, to get digital copies of your faxes. You can send a variety of files as an outgoing fax, including PDFs, TIFs, JPGs, spreadsheets and text documents.

    I tried using the site to no avail. My fax was never sent. I called customer service to cancel and was told that I can cancel but they will not return my $142.00. I was told that I will still have access to a faulty fax system.

    Horrible company. Their software wouldn’t take my card. Then I called them. It takes half an hour to put a payment through. When they put it through, I ask them for the monthly $9.99 one to test it out. They charge my account $142 for the yearly one.

    On top of that. When I tell them, I got charged wrong, they say “sorry we can’t refund”. I’m calling my bank to cancel.

    Just HORRIBLE!!! BAD TECHNOLOGY. HORRIBLE SERVICE.

      1. SCAM ALERT. Faxbetter charges for a free service you can get anywhere. I signed up 7 years ago and canceled a week later. As of today they still charge my account and REFUSE TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT. You will get the run around from RENZ the “manager”. In the end I have to finally filed a fraud dispute with my card holder since this company refused to stop charging me for a service I NEVER USED

THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A MONTH… IF YOU SEND SOMETHING ON WHITE PAPER WHICH IS USUAL, IT WILL COME OUT BLACK AND ALL THE FAXES YOU GET… GUESS WHAT??? ARE BLACK!!!!!   7. faxbetter. com is neither reliable nor reachable to resolve issues. They advertise that you can maintain a given fax number if you send at least one fax every seven days. Fair enough.. I did that. It worked two times but when I sent a third fax on the seventh day after the previous fax although the sent fax was reported as having been received successfully to the same faxbetter.com number I never got a notice of delivery as I did before. When I tried to send a follow-up fax the fax failed to be received. I was trying the service out to see if it was reliable but based on this experience I cannot recommend it. Prior reviews here suggest they used to have a customer service number but no such phone contact or even an email address is now listed on their website on July 5, 2017). While they do offer a free version if a free service is unreliable it does not matter what features a site offers or what it charges for their premium service – they presumptively cannot be trusted especially when they will not provide a straightforward means of contacting them.

  8. CAREFUL—shady operation! You cannot cancel online, and you CANNOT REMOVE YOUR CREDIT CARD FROM YOUR BILLING PROFILE. They ignore your requests to close the account in support conversations. They ignore demands that they discontinue the service. They ignore demands to stop billing you. They say you have to do this by phone, which you can never get through on. (I have heard from others that if you do get through, they make it very difficult for you to communicate that you are cancelling.)

    Anyway, these people are bad actors. Upstanding business don’t use deceptions like this.

  9. DO NOT USE………THIS IS A HORRIBLE SYSTEM, IF YOU DO NOT GET A FAX EVERY DAY THEN THEY BASICALLY GIVE THAT NUMBER AWAY. IF YOU GO BACK TO TRY AND RETRIEVE THE FAX, THEY WANT TO CHARGE YOU TO UPGRADE AND THEREFORE, THEY WANT YOU TO PAY TWO YEARS IN ADVANCE. WHO IS TO SAY THAT YOU WILL EVER GET YOUR FAXES, BECAUSE WE DID NOT……CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WERE RUDE AND WOULD NOT SEND OUR FAXES UNLESS WE PAID….

    We, FaxBetter.com, wanted to clear up any misconception left by the other commenters. Our policy is that when a customer signs up they must check a box next to the price and terms to which they are agreeing. Even if they accidentally agree to the wrong price we will give a full refund unless the customer has used the service. In that case we will refund everything but the minimal term of service.

    Additionally, when a customer signs up it is made clear that the service is a subscription service. This means we automatically charge the customer when their term expires. We do this to make sure service for the majority of customers that want to maintain uninterrupted service. If they want to cancel, they must cancel prior to the renewal date. If the renewal date has just passed and the customer has not used the service they will be given a full refund. If they used the service after the renewal date, we will refund everything but the minimal term of service.

    We believe that is fair. If this was not the case, we sincerely apologize as the policies were not followed and we invite either of these commenters to contact me at the email address below to have the policy correctly applied with a free month for their inconvenience.

    1. I just tested your customer service number BEFORE I signed up to see how good it is. I was disconnected after 10 minutes of hold music with a fast busy signal every time I called. I was with e-fax and they were expensive but I did not have to call in, stay on hold only to be disconnected.

      Additionally, your comments above did not address the fact that your company’s customer service agents are trained to ignore disconnect requests and are rude.

      As a matter of fact your reply omission is the reason I will never join your service.

    DO NOT USE THIS – I see I am not the first to have a dispute with this company. Called on the anniversary date (9/4) to cancel, was told by someone with a very thick accent (using the name “John Watson” it would be canceled, they proceeded to bill my account (9/6), and now refuse to allow me to connect with a manager to have this reviewed by someone with some common sense, refuse to refund – and will not provide any physical address – am next going to attempt contact with owner of company via Linked-In to see if there is anyone honest in this company. (Side note: Interestingly, today “John Watson” is using the name of “Michael Clarke” to repeat the party line… there really ought to be a law… Changing bank cards so that this can’t be billed into perpetuity….

  12. DO NOT USE THIS FAX SERVICE!! First of all, they will take your money and charge unnecessary fees. I signed up for a monthly contract and was charged for a 2 year subscription ($142). After requesting to see proof of what I had supposedly e-signed, I was emailed a blank form showing a box that would get marked if I wanted a 2 year subscription. It did not have the box marked, nor did it show my e-signature, so it was simply one of their blank forms. After a dispute for the charges with my bank, it was determined that I would not only be credited those funds, but my account would be shut down. So now I am out the $142 and a fax number for my side business. Strange way to start a business partnership with a company…. Please stay clear of this company. Do your research prior to signing up, as they are deceitful and that is not a quality that you want with an online company. There are already too many of those out there!
