Best Smart DNS for Sling TV

Best Smart DNS for Sling TV

Sling TV is an American internet television provider. It is a so-called over the top type of business, which means that (to put it bluntly) Sling TV is not affected by cable network companies and is more of an individual venture than anything else. This highly relative freedom perhaps was a contributing factor to the company’s quick success. Founded in January 2015, they managed to convince multiple hundred thousand subscribers in their first year of being in business. This of course means that Sling TV is a pay-only type of online service. Furthermore, it is restricted to the USA. They offer a little bit of every program, from news to sports and kids shows as well, next to film. For anyone wanting to see what they are all about from outside the U.S. we now display two solutions.

Watching Sling TV outside the US

To make one thing clear, gaining access to Sling TV via VPN or smart DNS does not mean that you do not have to pay for the website’s services. Employing these services allow you to actually stream Sling TV’s contents, while otherwise you cannot (we are addressing non-U.S. people of course). Sadly, financials still await you once you gained access.

VPN does all this by swapping your IP address with a secure IP of another country. Also, your data traffic will be encrypted, which will hide you from the sight of online wrongdoers. The disadvantage of this is that encryptions slow your internet speeds down, which might not be the best thing if you seek to stream online television, something that requires a quick connection over long periods of time. On the other hand, smart DNS is explicitly designed for this sort of activity. Though they bear no encryption, this means that they do not have any speed reduction to be held back with, thus any smart DNS is as quick as your personal internet connection. And – as its name suggests – your device’s DNS address is what needs modification in this case.

As far as devices go, Sling TV can be watched on Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Chromecast, Nexus Player, ZTE, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire, RCA, Xbox, Mac OS X Lion 10.7 and higher and Windows 7 or higher. All of them except Chromecast, ZTE and Xbox have their respective Sling TV applications, which is very impressive.

Recommended smart DNS services

As a finisher, we would like to bring up three smart DNS companies that we think fare quite well with Sling TV. One we are keen on is UnoTelly. The main advantage of this provider is that next to a general smart DNS plan, you can also invest in a joint DNS+VPN package as well. The latter offers you encryptions and VPN-based access to the US, the UK, Canada and the Netherlands.

Next up, there is SimpleTelly to consider. This company’s pride is their iOS and Android support, along with their alignment towards films. Sling TV is also included in their long list of channels and so they too are a worthy business to think about.

Blockless is a unique gem among the manually set up horde of smart DNS companies, as you have a much better time getting things to work. For one, you can use the browser-based interface of theirs to connect right away to the country you want to access, and if you prefer standalone software, you can also do the same with client applications for Windows and Mac.
