The UCI Road World Championships is an annual event organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale since 1921, and 2016’s edition will take place in the beautiful Doha, the capital of Qatar, from October 9th until October 16th 2016. After moving from Richmond, USA, this is the first Middle-East country to stage this competition and only the second Asian one after Japan in 1990, which means that expectations are high. Around 1,000 racers from 75 countries will be racing in front of 30,000 fans, with millions of spectators watching the event worldwide.

Among the favorite riders are last year’s winners Peter Sagan and Lizzie Armistead and Adrien Costa, one of the most promising young GT-riders in the world. Costa will compete against Neilson Powless, Mads Würtz Schmidt, Fillipo Ganna and Lennard Kamma as his main rivals for this year’s edition. The 2016 edition of the cycling world championship will be a completely different experience for the first time as the races take us through an outstanding parkour with the surroundings of the Arabian Gulf, Katara Cultural Village and the man-made island The Pearl-Qatar.

Channels broadcasting UCI cycling world championships

As this year’s edition of the UCI road cycling championships promises to be quite the neat event on and off track, make sure you tune in to Universal Sports, Sky Mexico, the UCI YouTube Channel or Red Bull Media House as these will assure broadcasting of the event. Although, as it frequently happens nowadays with big commercialized sports events, watching live sports is no longer a privilege since you’ll be required to pay for cable subscriptions. When this is not an option, you’re pretty much left with traveling to the actual place, but we figure that you’ll rather want to relax and enjoy the cycling event at home. All the aforementioned assure online streams but the problem here is that some may be blocked in certain countries, due to licenses and such.

VPNs for the World Championships of 2016

Luckily, all these will become available the moment you get yourself a VPN. Buffered VPN for instance, grants you access to geo-blocked content thanks to a wide server network counting 33 different countries for you to choose from. An anonymous IP address will be attributed to you and you’re all set to watch the race live. You’ll be able to watch the full unique broadcast of the competition without any restrictions, and the unlimited bandwidth servers will assure your legs won’t get tired mid-race. Also, Buffered VPN features multi-device support as well as simultaneous connection so you can watch the live broadcast on your computer, smartphone or tablet. Unfortunately, there is no free trial account, but the company grants you a 30-day money back guarantee instead. With your VPN set to a VPN server in a country in which the online broadcasts can be streamed, the only thing you need to worry about is the GMT/UTC +3 hours of Qatar’s local time.
