Italy is not only that beautiful and historically rich country. In fact, it is the home of one of the most technically challenging soccer leagues in the world: Serie A. This is the top division for Italian soccer, a nation that has a past full of successes, both from clubs as well as the national team, thanks to their great players and coaches. Serie A features the “old lady” Juventus, the hot clashes between century old rivals such as FC Internazionalle Millano – AC Milan and AS Roma – SS Lazio, the always dangerous SSC Napoli, Fiorentina, among many other good historical clubs. For all this, Serie A reaches the world with broadcasts on TV as well as online channels. But is it easy for everyone to reach?
It is true that the skilled Serie A reaches the entire world. What is also true though is the fact that in most countries it is broadcasted by one or more paid cable subscription TV channel(s). In the USA, Canada, France, Spain and Australia, the broadcasts of Serie A are assured by beIN Sports while in the UK you’ll need to tune in to BT Sport, and in Germany to Sport 1 or DAZN.
As long as you are a subscriber to these paid services you will be able to watch most of them online on their respective websites, but here’s the main problem: your geographic location, as some online streamers are blocked or inexistent in your country. The good news is there is a way (two ways actually) for you to go around this obstacle.
Geo-blocks happen due to your IP address, which is used by websites to track your location and to decide whether or not you should be able to access the service. So the trick is obscuring your real IP address in order to make those websites think you’re in a different place where access is granted.
You can use a VPN, a Virtual Private Network, which morphs your IP address into one from another location in the world. It is very easy to use and doesn’t require any tech knowhow whatsoever. All VPN services have a certain amount of servers spread over the world and all you need to do is choose one of them located in a non-geo-blocked area. This will switch your real IP address with one from the country you’ve chosen, and now you’ll be able to access whatever content from that content you want. This way you could for instance connect to a VPN server in the UK, after which beIN Sports will have no more secrets for you: you’ll be able to use the site and its Serie A live streams just like a UK internet user residing in the UK could.
There is also another solution, which is to use a smart DNS. This works rather similarly as the aforementioned, but instead you will not be given the option to choose anything since it automatically directs you to a proxy server. Smart DNS services don’t apply any encryption to your connection, so your actions won’t be masqueraded like they would when using a VPN.
When using any of these you’ll be able to watch Serie A in any country, and on any device, since most of the VPN and smart DNS providers support multiple devices as well as a certain amount of simultaneous connections.
