Choosing VPS bandwidth smartly

Additional bandwidth is a standard add-on option. If you choose a package that includes 2,000GB of bandwidth each month and run a blog that barely comes close to using 250GB, you have ample room to grow without adding more. If you know you will need 4,000GB every month, choose the package that already includes it. Bandwidth add-ons cost less per GB than overage charges, but it still costs more per GB than simply choosing a larger package to begin with.

Get yourself a control panel and spam filtering

A control panel, in most situations, will cost between $5 and $15 more each month on top of the base VPS charge. Remember, even veteran system administrators like control panels, and they are fantastic when you are just starting to learn. The built-in safety features make it easy to make changes confidently and easily without breaking anything. Plesk and cPanel are both full-featured, but you may find that cPanel is more user-friendly. Spam filtering is also essential. Control panels ordinarily include a spam filtering module, but the add-on options provided by third-party services dedicated to stopping spam in its tracks are usually far more effective.
