Overview comparison for TorGuard, BTGuard

TorGuard

We can call TorGuard the Ferrari of VPN services for torrents. You will find it very hard to notice something not appealing in this software. Let’s start with its plans from which you can choose: Anonymous VPN, the recently added Business VPN, Anonymous Proxy, the E-mail and the VPN Router buying option. The Business VPN service is one of the largest VPN solutions on the market since the Enterprise pack gives you 50+ connections, 100+ encrypted accounts and x30 dedicated VPN IPs just to name a few.

Regarding subscriptions, there are monthly, quarterly, semiannual and yearly packs with attractive prices and generous discounts. The Business VPN pricing is different according to the size of your business, and you have over 80 payment options. Despite that there’s no free trial, you do get 10MB of free anonymous e-mailing, a sweet little treat by the fine folks at TorGuard. All packs bring the same features, regardless of the subscription period, such as the Multiple Ciphers AES128/AES256 and access to the 1,600+ servers across 50+ countries supporting Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS.

BTGuard

BTGuard is like a traditional VPN service, though it is very focused on its initial mission to make your BitTorrent activities anonymous and secure. Instead of offering different packages with different pricing and features, with this company you pay for the whole service and all of its whistles and bells. Upon signing up you can download their secure client and have it protect your operating system (works in Windows, Mac, and Linux) and internet connections – from e-mail to web browsing, including all other services. The only option besides the full VPN treatment is to choose the BitTorrent Proxy that will be automatically anonymized, and despite its name it is compatible with both uTorrent and Vuze as well. Although there is no accurate number of servers available, BTGuard has its 10Gbit devices spread over Canada (their host country), Europe and Asia, supporting a 256-bit AES encryption and including OpenVPN & PPTP.

BTGuard’s pricing is not the most appealing on the market, although a yearly subscription will guarantee you savings of 25% on monthly payments. BTGuard allows credit card, PayPal and Bitcoin payments.

Conclusion

So is one better than the other? Yes, though BTGuard is a stellar option for torrenting, TorGuard is the better and more complete solution. The 5 different plans that you can choose from are the cherry on top of an already sweet VPN service cake. The fact that you have more liberty to choose exactly what you want is a major point in favor of this company. The Business VPN is also a very clever and unique service that will surely help all businesses, regardless of their size. TorGuard’s prices are more attractive than the ones from BTGuard and the 80+ payment methods are nothing but remarkable. Where BTGuard leads is the support for Vuze and uTorrent, but then again it loses by not supporting mobile devices for instance. BTGuard will probably suit you best for torrent usage while TorGuard will cover your back not just for torrents, but during your other online ventures as well.
