Can you tell us a bit more about yourself and your role at IPVanish?

My name is Lawrence Traynor and I’m the Director of Communications at IPVanish VPN. I manage all aspects of our marketing and branding in coordination with our Operations, Development, Support and Marketing teams.

How do you guarantee the speed and security of all of your servers worldwide?

I mentioned the IPVanish team earlier. This is a team that you can believe in. Our group has been working together and accomplishing huge networking, content delivery and security feats for 15 years. We’re brought together with the common goal of delivering our customers the best VPN service in the world, period. This means the fastest speeds, the best security, the best tech support and the most competitive pricing anywhere for our subscribers.

I should also mention that all our servers support all VPN protocols. This makes it especially beneficial for tablet and smartphone users. They don’t have to figure out which server has which protocol, as is the case with providers like HideMyAss and Strong VPN.

What logs do you keep of people using your software?

We don’t register any activities of our users while they’re connected to one of our servers and IP’s; we don’t log where you go on the web or what you do on these different websites or other internet services. We respect our customer’s right to privacy and don’t think it’s anyone’s business what someone else does.

This is the only information we collect from your sessions using our VPN services: the timestamp (this is the date and server time) of the connection to us, duration of the connection, the IP address used for the connection and the amount of bytes used. This helps us troubleshoot any connectivity issues a customer may have. We regularly clear this tiny amount of support data that our systems remember out.

May IPVanish be used for gaming and SaaS apps?

Absolutely. IPVanish can be used for gaming and SaaS apps.

Do you know what type of setup you will be able to offer for Windows 8?

The IPVanish software is already Windows 8 compatible. However, this is for L2TP and PPTP connections only. OpenVPN has yet to release a stable driver and setup for Windows 8. Once it’s ready, we’ll integrate it into the software right away for our customers.

How will your VPN service further adapt itself to the increasing internet usage on smartphones and tablets?

From an innovation standpoint, we have some of the best minds in the business here at IPVanish. Also, we work closely with our customer base worldwide to recognize their needs and have a full development team to build solutions for those needs.

From a network standpoint, we have one of the largest, most redundant VPN networks in the world… and we’re constantly investing substantial resources to continue building out our network. In August alone, we added 7 servers total in Paris, France, Brussels, Belgium, Madrid, Spain, New Delhi, India and Miami, USA. Today, our network stands at 54 servers in 20 countries and will continue to grow.

As I touched on earlier, all of our servers support all the protocols, which makes it easy for tablet and smartphone users to connect and configure. They don’t have to figure out which server has which protocols, like HMA or Strong VPN.

For which purposes do you use your VPN service yourself?

I use IPVanish on all of my devices for the peace of mind it brings. Every single time I’m connected to the Internet, I know that my identity and data is anonymous and secure.

What may expect from IPVanish in the coming weeks, months and years to come?

Our development team is working on an IPVanish Mac client as we speak, so expect an announcement on that soon. In broader scope, we’re dedicated to the continued build out of our VPN network and will be (and are now) making huge investments to make that happen. Given our passion and team of resources here at IPVanish, you can expect us to be continuously adding new features to the service to give our customers the best VPN experience available anywhere.

What other tips do you have for people who want to use the Internet in a secure way?

First and most importantly, get secured with an IPVanish VPN connection. Going online without encryption just doesn’t make sense anymore. Secondly, make sure to take the time to understand all the threats out there. Change your passwords regularly to something difficult to hack and make sure to use up-to-date anti-virus software.
