What made you decide to start a VPN service?

The VPN market is huge with hundreds of VPN providers, hence one must stand out from the crowd to be successful. To start the VPN service, we wanted to offer our users top quality fast VPN infrastructure first and foremost to be able to handle large volumes of streaming content from unblocked online services, while keeping the prices at affordable levels. What is your logging policy?

With us there are no logs, period. This is one of the core features of our service, as we don’t want to monitor our users. This includes traffic data, DNS data or meta (session) data. However, it is subject to our terms of use and we have systems in place to mitigate abuse.

Can you tell us a bit more about your Free Plan and its “best effort bandwidth”?

Unlike other VPN providers who offer a free VPN service, ZoogTV VPN does not collect and share your information with any third party in return for a fee in order to finance the free service. ZoogTV VPN offers one of the best free VPN plans on the market, with 2GB of data per month and best effort bandwidth speeds for one device, while no other limits apply. Because of the nature of a free plan and to ensure exceptional quality for our premium plan customers, we can’t guarantee top download speeds for free plan customers. Hence, we only offer “best effort bandwidth” with shared resources on our Free Plan.

Which settings do you suggest for streaming content through ZoogTV?

That would depend on your device and OS, but generally we suggest using OpenVPN protocol both for speed and security. We offer a range of one click and advance clients for a range of devices. We recommend our Windows VPN client based on OpenVPN protocol for ease of use on Windows systems while easy to install 3rd party apps available on mobile devices.

How did you come up with the name ZoogTV?

Our mission was and is to distinguish ourselves from the competition by providing a VPN service like no other. We initially focused our efforts on freedom online by unblocking US and UK services from anywhere. This is true today as it was back when we started in early 2013, while we also ensure that our service comes with a good level of encryption offering improved privacy and security online. On a side note, in some circles “Zoog” is known to mean “smart”.

How do you personally use your ZoogTV VPN?

All of us use ZoogTV VPN almost daily, while not everyone uses it for the same reason. Most commonly it is used to watch movies or TV shows on Hulu and US Netflix. While others have the VPN on whenever they go online, especially when dealing with sensitive private information. And of course almost everyone takes it with them when travelling abroad.

Which new features, releases may we expect in the near future?

In the coming weeks and months users can expect new cherry-picked servers being introduced in locations more favorable towards users’ privacy online for fast download speeds, while also offering off­shore locations for gaming. We are also working on new VPN technologies designed to bypass the latest VPN blocks by governments from the likes of China, Iran, Turkey and others. Furthermore, users can expect client updates and new ZoogTV VPN apps across number of devices in the medium term.

We are a bunch of really nice guys and girls with computing and networking background who care about Internet, people and technology.

Which privacy, online freedom threats do you see becoming increasingly important in the months to come?

These would be mostly coming from the governments across the world. China has been big news lately with blocking almost every major VPN service provider. As mentioned, this is one of the areas we are working on to ensure that Internet freedom irrespective of your location. We also anticipate further increase in online surveillance and restrictive measures from the governments of the US, UK and Russia in the coming months, increasing the need to privacy online.
