Once upon a time, VPN tools focused on businesses, but in this age of numerous internet threats these services have become more and more popular for everyday internet use. In fact, the drive for personal privacy and security has meant the industry has become huge now, and as a result the market is filled with more and more alternatives. ExpressVPN and PureVPN are the epitome of a business destined to flourish, but also the mirror of the success of companies that came before them. Overview comparison for ExpressVPN, PureVPN

ExpressVPN

Few companies can claim to have had as much success as ExpressVPN, a provider that was founded in 2009 and quickly proved to be worthy of a place at the top of our charts. Among its various qualities, the primary highlights go to its extensive device support, which ensures that even the less-common platforms are reached via router configuration. Additional features such as a kill switch and built-in smart DNS and speed test tools are also of particular note. Browsers like ChromeFirefox and Safari also have their corresponding extensions. Security is provided by the high standard of AES-256-CBC encryption, but there’s no lack of VPN protocols either.

Likewise, the VPN network is worthy of praise since it is composed by over 1,500 servers in 94 countries around the world, even reaching remote places like Bhutan, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar and many others. Speeds in general are satisfactory and with good consistency between the different countries. The most affordable plan is billed annually at $99.95, an equivalent price of $8.32 per month, though there are semi-annual and monthly options too. There is no free trial unfortunately, but thanks to the 30-day money back guarantee it’s possible to use the service risk-free for one month. Payment methods include credit cards, PayPal, Bitcoin, and other alternatives.

PureVPN

Back in 2006, PureVPN began as a company dedicated to delivering the very best online security. Today, perhaps the most successful VPN provider from Hong Kong is now one of the services that offers the most security features on the market. There’s a NAT firewall, a kill switch, a split tunneling function, protection against IPv6 and DNS leaks, built-in defense against viruses and other malware, an ad blocker, and even more than that.

The offering of protocols is pleasant, too, since it features the most in-demand methods alongside the best level of encryption, too. Besides the usual apps for computers and mobile, users can also utilize router configurations to extend the range of the service beyond the maximum five connections.

Between physical and virtual locations, PureVPN’s servers ensure  global coverage from over 140 countries. In fact, this is one of the few providers that is still available in China, for instance, offering not one but two cities in the country. The most popular plan is the annual one, costing $4.95 per month, but PureVPN often has flash sales and promos for longer and cheaper subscriptions. Regardless, any of these packages have a seven-day money back guarantee.

Conclusion

The VPN world is literally crowded with hundreds of providers that promise the best service at the most attractive price, but many often don’t practice what they preach and you could end up looking foolish after investing in one of them. With ExpressVPN and PureVPN, however, there’s no deception.

The former aims for the most general audience but, although it has its own share of decent security features, it doesn’t compare to the extensive capabilities of the latter. And while ExpressVPN’s network has more servers, it still reaches fewer countries than its opposition. On the other hand, PureVPN is cheaper when it comes to both long and short subscriptions.

As such, it’s impossible for us to pick one over the other as they are equally great choices that suit both the same and different needs. In that sense it’s important to figure out what aspect of either of these is most important. If you’re still not sold one way or the other, check out our complete reviews and find all the details.

User Feedback
  1. I joined PURE VPN in November 2017 & for the 1st 6 days was extremely happy with the service, however on day 7 it went down & after trying my hardest with them to make it work properly they eventually asked for direct access to my laptop & did a variety of alterations to my system, after a few days it stopped working again, I noticed that when I contacted the service it seemed I was getting pre-recorded messages pointing towards a DIY system on line making me do alterations to my system ( way above my pay grade ) so once again they got access after waiting 24 hrs for them to do so, this happened many times making my blood boil, I tried asking for my $59.99 subscription back saying they are NOT giving me what I paid for, they said so sorry I’m past the 7 days refund deadline, I personally would never recommend this company to anyone.
