VyprVPN, provided by Swiss-based Golden Frog, is one of the longest standing VPN services in the world. They own and manage both their server and their client software under one roof, without outsourcing anything to third party companies. Thanks to this, they not only guarantee unlimited bandwidth and stellar server uptime, but it has also allowed Golden Frog to come up with a set of innovative features. VyprVPN users have access to a unique network protocol called Chameleon, which scrambles metadata allowing you to bypass restrictions. Those who regularly run into unwanted malware sites, could prevent malicious redirections with the built-in VyprDNS feature and you can even manage your own VPN network via VyprVPN Cloud. The fast and secure routing is made complete with a large group of possible server locations, counting more than 70 countries and 200,000 IP addresses. VyprVPN is available for every major home device, smartphone and operating system. The subscription cost starts from $5 per month, but you can give it a go for free thanks to the 3-day trial.
VyprVPN heavily emphasizes the fact that there are no third parties involved in their service. While many VPN providers resort to utilizing open-source clients and server providers, VyprVPN uses its own custom-developed software and runs on its own dedicated network of servers located across the globe. The said client is a delight to use: your current VPN settings are displayed upfront, while a diagram shows progress of your data flow. You are offered to connect always to the fastest server, or choose from a list where you can review any server’s status. The option menu is simple and features like VyprDNS or the NAT Firewall are summarized briefly, so users unaware of these extras can get a firm grasp on their purpose. Because the company writes all of its code in-house and manages its own servers, they are capable of maintaining the fastest connection without the need to compromise the speed, even for free users.
With VyprVPN, you can be sure to have access to the best connection types. You can choose between the standard options, namely the good old PPTP, which is fast but completely useless from a safety point-of-view, OpenVPN, which is the perfect setting for desktops, and L2TP that comes built-in with most desktops and mobiles. However, Golden Frog developed a brand new form of protocol, called Chameleon. It’s based on the 256-bit encrypted OpenVPN technology, with a literal twist in it. Chameleon scrambles the metadata, so it becomes unrecognizable for deep packet inspections. The speed remains the same, but you are able to bypass restrictive censorships created by governments, such as the Chinese one, corporations and ISPs.
VyprDNS helps you surpass DNS filtering, which is often used by public Wi-Fi providers, and keeps you safe from other third parties intercepting your DNS request to redirect you to a malware website. It defeats DNS censorship while protecting your online identity through a VPN at the same time. VyprDNS runs on the same secure server network used for its VPN service under the zero-knowledge policy, so no logs are kept, not to mention it’s convenient to be able to have the protection and functionality of both services at the same time.
Previously known as VyprVPN Server, this solution is mostly intended for businesses that want to bundle VyprVPN’s software and apps with their own server network and that of Golden Frog. You could use VyprVPN Cloud with Amazon Web Services, VirtualBox and other platforms to handle those VPN connections like you would use those of VyprVPN itself. This way you can also make use of a VyprVPN Business Cloud to run your dedicated VPN server and IP using the VyprVPN apps on mobile and desktop.
There is no VPN without a well-spread coverage of proxy servers across the globe. VyprVPN presents you a well-developed network of possible locations. There are several clusters in North and South America, Europe, Asia and even Oceania although Africa counts only with Egypt and Algeria, compensating withwith the Middle-Eastern servers, which are truly rare additions. VyprVPN offers you more than 70 countries. Other than the ever-popular places like USA, Hong Kong, UK and Australia, you are able to disguise yourself as the virtual citizen of such exotic cities as Vilnius, Warsaw, San José, Dubai, Bangkok and Mumbai.
The large pool of server locations means that you have access to more than 200,000 IP addresses. Coupled with the fact that VyprVPN doesn’t restrict your bandwidth, and allows unlimited switches between the countries, your possibilities are endless. After testing the speed of three different locations, we can confirm that VyprVPN keeps up a good pace. Switzerland was labeled as the “fastest” option, but Miami isn’t much behind it, contrary to the large distance. Vietnam was under heavy traffic during the test, but it still showed some acceptable results.
VyprVPN takes data privacy very seriously and ensures this through the use of complex encryption codes. They mainly use 256-bit coding, although PPTP is capable of only 128-bit encryption. Unfortunately, this number is quite low, considering that some VPN providers boast about their 4096-bit encryption. On the other hand, take into account that the higher the coding’s level, the slower your data transfer will be. VyprVPN’s main strength is undeniable the high speed connection, which is perfect even for HD video streaming. Most users are satisfied with the 256-bit coding, as long it prevents their personal data from being stolen. It should be mentioned that VyprVPN is the owner of all of its servers and uses their own network, thus there are no third parties who will be able to gain access to any confidential information on your VPN. The service also supports NAT Firewall with some plans, meaning that it blocks unrequested inbound traffic when you’re connected to VyprVPN. This feature is handy when you connect to the internet via wireless routers.
VyprVPN supports a wide array of devices and operating systems. Users can access the service and its VPNs using the free desktop applications available for Windows, Mac or Linux, while iPad, iPhone and all Android enabled devices each have their own mobile application as well. Besides, Golden Frog also developed manual setup solutions for additional devices. The service is fully compatible with most smart TVs, including Android TV, OpenELEC/Kodi and Apple TV. For those who wish to protect their entire home network, we have good news: VyprVPN created a program especially for routers on the Tomato MIPS/ARM framework. Accessing VyprVPN through your router would extend the secured data flow to every home automation devices and game consoles of yours.
No matter which platform you choose, you can expect a fast and easy installation. Both the iOS and Android applications come with features designed to make the smartphone user’s life easier. The client runs quietly in the background, ensuring that your personal data and privacy are safe at all times. In case the connection drops from some reason, the program will automatically reconnect as soon as possible, so you don’t have to bother. Even better, VyprVPN starts on its own when you establish connection with an unknown Wi-Fi, beginning the encryption of your data streaming.
VyprVPN has a very straightforward pricing policy. You have two options to choose from: you either have your subscription fee billed on a monthly basis, or go for the lengthier version and opt for a whole year. The former case allows you to be more flexible with your commitment time, while the latter provides a reasonable discount on the price. But keep in mind that VyprVPN has a zero refund policy, meaning that cancelling before the end of the service will not result in a refund. So, if you wish to determine whether you want to use this VPN, take advantage of the free trial. It costs you no money upfront, and after a brief registration you can access VyprVPN for three days, without any limitations.
After your initial trial period ended, you get the chance to continue by subscribing to one of the paid plans, enjoying PPTP, L2TP/IPsec and OpenVPN 160/256-bit encryption as protocol options, besides having both VyprDNS and NAT Firewall features available too.
With this being said, the standard plan is the one simply-called VyprVPN which offers 3 simultaneous connections and unlimited data usage for $9.95, if billed monthly, or $60 per year if you opt for the annual subscription, which is the same as dropping the monthly price to about half ($5.00 per month).
If you want to go all stealth mode, the richest offer is called VyprVPN Premium. With up to five simultaneous connections and the benefits of VyprVPN Cloud and the Chameleon protocols included, VyprVPN recommends this plan for the VPN power user and those living in countries under high pressure of government restrictions. The price to pay for all this is $80 per year – about $6.67 per month for those who like to think in monthly costs –, or $12.95 if you prefer single monthly payments, which will raise your annual cost to $155.40 per year. VPN users who seek a customizable VPN solution and are compelled by the Chameleon protocol shouldn’t hesitate too much about paying a little extra each month to enjoy the Premium features. Last but not least, VyprVPN still offers a 25% off discount via seasonal special deals, so make sure to check their promotions regularly.
Golden Frog takes care of their customers’ problems diligently, as they operate a 24/7 live chat on their website. Alternatively, you can ask the support team’s help by submitting a ticket. VyprVPN’s support members have proven to provide prompt and adequate answers to inquiries of all kinds, both via live chat and email. The possible answer might be answered in their FAQ section, although it doesn’t have all too many topics. Both Golden Frog and VyprVPN can be found on Facebook and Twitter, posting self-made articles and news regularly. VyprVPN’s site is well-structured, informative and upfront about all details. Going through the different topics might be edifying, even if you don’t plan on using the service.
VyprVPN has rightfully earned its reputation as an innovative, fast and dependable VPN provider. You can choose from a large number of international IPs, except for Africa, which is a small miss in its server network. The extra features, such as the VyprDNS and the Chameleon protocol are well implemented, and they run simultaneously with the IP routing. They also add real value to the service, preventing harmful redirections and unlocking restricted content. Most devices and operating systems are supported, and they are accessible via their respective clients, developed by Golden Frog itself. Their standard VyprVPN plan at $5.00 per month billed annually is a good deal for the basic user, though having access to the unique Chameleon protocol in the standard plan would be something we’d stand up for. Some people might also find it annoying that there are no refunds even if you cancel an unfinished service, something that the company compensates by offering a 3-day free trial of both plans, even the top-notch one. Regardless, VyprVPN is a well-developed service worth a try, especially for businesses and professional users.

If you care about privacy and torrenting, this is not a VPN for you
-THEY ARE TRACKING YOU: VyprVPN tracks what you are doing while you’re connected to their service despite the claim on their privacy statement (https://www.goldenfrog.com/privacy): “What Golden Frog Does Not Collect From VyprVPN Sessions: Does not log a user’s traffic or the content of any communications.” This is obviously false because:
-COPYRIGHT NOTICES: If they detect you are torrenting, you will be sent a DMCA copyright infringement notice by email and your service will be blocked until you sign an affirmation that you will not do it again. Refusal to sign means your service will forever be blocked.
-RUDE CUSTOMER SUPPORT: After I was sent an email that I had downloaded copyrighted material and that my service was blocked, I contacted support via live chat telling them I wanted to cancel my service. I asked for a PARTIAL refund since there was still 20 days left of the month that I would not be using. I did not ask for a full refund of the month, just the unused portion of the 20 days left! Not an unreasonable request, I think. The support person told me they had a strict no-refund policy. After arguing back and forth about why I didn’t want to sign their affirmation and that they were the ones blocking my use of their product, the customer service agent told me he was going to end the chat! How rude! I find their attitude was quite inflexible and not customer-friendly.
-INFLEXIBLE REFUND POLICY: My request for even a partial refund was denied even though they blocked my service. I find their policy quite inflexible.
These guys are not anonymous at all. After a hour of usage they locked my account and started to ask following questions: where am I from? What is my credit card last 4 digits? At what time did I register with them? And if you don’t agree to answer, they simply block you access to VPN, they don’t care what you think about that. For sure, this VPN exists just to spy for you, it is not anonymous and it asks even more details about you than they see already from theirs logs.
Slow and non-reliable software, customer service bad. Also, the price is double than most of other VPNs. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I use Hide My IP VPN and I’m much more satisfied with software and price.
I went with VyprVPN AFTER another(supposedly better) service became problematic and their support was NON-EXISTENT. VyprVPN works well on my windows desktop, and THAT is where it stops. Even that is far from perfect, by any means. Now, for the bad, I wanted a vpn for my router(Asus RT-AC66U), and iphone. I though that if the router was protected, and it is ALWAYS on, that everything would be fine. Let me just say that I was WRONG on that assumption. I never expected the app to crash and shut down, especially as much as this does. Thus , it is constantly needing to be connected manually, as the auto-connect DOESN’T always automatically reconnect, as it SHOULD. I think there was about 6-7 weeks of constant, always on, service. I actually though I had it working like I wanted it to. Since then, I’m right back to square one, having to stop what I’m doing in order to sign-in on the router app and “connect” it, on a DAILY basis, even though it is set to “automatically attempt to reconnect 20 times”. VyprVPN(AKA, Golden Frog) constantly claims they cannot fully support “Tomato by Shibby” that THEY require in order to make the router app usable on your router. With that said, The service I had before VyprVPN was even more expensive than this and had ZERO customer support. After trying TWO of the most “promising” and expensive vpn services available, I see no reason NOT to try any less pricey vpn services, as you don’t always “get what you pay for” when it comes to promises made by vpn service providers. Consistency, so far, is not included, and customer support that is able to correct any issues, being another.
Been using vypr for 3 months now and like the service. I particularly like the fastest server option which automatically connects you to the fastest server available. What a cool feature! I’m surprised by the previous review where the guy is ranting that they are not anonymous. I read over their website before signing up and they have a whole section where they argue that nobody is anonymous online, including themselves, so not sure what the rant is about if they are open about that. Anyway, I think it’s a good service.
Vyprvpn pulled me in with their free trial offer and I eventually ended up subscribing. It wasn’t until I upgraded that I also figured out about VyprDns and am using that one most often now.
Now that I’m comparing them with other providers in this league I find that VyprVpn actually has the best set of options. Their server network speed is working perfectly for me, regardless of which country I decide to go on.
I didn’t think I would use VyprVpn as much as I do now, and don’t feel like it’s slowing my Internet browsing much down. It works just as swiftly on my Pc as on my Android cell, so I just keep it up and running all the time.
Their pricing works well for me, nothing else noteworthy for me to say about the customer service. Just a top notch service that does what it states.
BEWARE! If you think this service is giving you any anonymity, THEY ARE NOT!! They ARE logging you. They WILL give the info to the first jackoff that wants it. I had the service less than a month and already got a letter from somebody about DL a movie. Sony, if I remember correctly. This wasn’t even law enforcement. Then, they suspended my service. (Which was great cuz I would NEVER connect thru them EVER again!) They required me to click some link and revisit TOS to reactivate my account. I instead sent them an email telling them to f^ off, do not restore my service under any circumstance, and cancel my account. 45 days later, I get a SECOND notice from them, saying I have RE-OFFENDED! Even though I never even unlocked my account! I can understand complying with LE when ABSOLUTELY necessary, but 3rd party lawyers? Why the hell did the info even exist at that point to be recovered? Bottom line… They ARE logging your whereabouts, and they WILL give up the info without much effort.
The customer service is a cut a paste response to any query and when you run into a wall it just stops.
The actual service proved unreliable and when you decide it’s not for you there is no refund even if you have only subscribed a couple of months. That’s when it goes silent. I would not recommend this service.
I’ve been using Vypr for about 6 months now and enjoyed how easy they were to setup and install. Their pricing is average when purchased with the annual discount but I wish they accepted Bitcoin. There’s also the issue of logging
DumpTruck is a nice perk, but frankly I don’t see myself ever using it. I bought a VPN…that’s all I really care about.
This service is a scam. I tried to sign-up for 3 day trial, but they kept requesting more and more personal data and after three emails requesting more information, I gave up. I searched the net, and found out that they typically waste your time during the 3 day “free” trial period until it passes and now they charge you forever. People say its very hard to try and block them from charging you, and most had to go through the bank. It just wasn’t worth it for me after all of the steps to try and sign up, combined with the shady business practices. I am going to avoid using this service and uninstall of the software (hopefully they wont charge me forever)
I never really thought that VyprVPN would make much of a difference over my previous VPN service. Boy was I ever wrong. I mean VyprVPN is fast, really fast compared to any of the services I had tried in the past. And it NEVER goes down at least so far as I’ve noticed and that’s a big deal in the world of tech, I don’t want to find myself unprotected online for even a second. I love VyprVPN and would recommend it to anyone looking for security AND speed, it doesn’t force you to choose so you should choose it.
VyprVPN which is produced by Golden Frog is actually considered to be one of the most time efficient VPN systems on the planet. The thing that differentiates it from other VPN system is that all network management is conducted in-house. This is one of the fastest VPN systems I have ever used.
I have been using VyprVPN for last couple of weeks. I can switch IP very rapidly and I cant believe that how they give that much speed ?? VyprVPN is really super fast. I like it. Go ahead VyprVPN.
I have tried using a number of VPN services over the past year. Some were cheaper than VyprVPN, but with this one, you absolutely get what you pay for.! It works like a champ on my iPhone and turns off when I don’t need it. I would recommend this to anyone who is needing a reliable VPN.The price is low and quality remains high!
This service is one of the best i have ever tried. it was super fast and i liked the unrestricted usage. I always felt that my data was secure and the pricing was extremely reasonable. The customer service was also excellent and all problems i had were resolved almost immediately. what i liked the most was the unlimited bandwidth usage.
Another terrible VPN service IMO. Was unable to setup on my Mac on first go. Worked fine on iOS devices however. Online chat help took forever and didn’t seem to understand the issues I was facing. Online chats kept dropping out. Completely obvious that the website and support chat is not optimized for users already in China as it takes forever to load their page and download any of their desktop apps. All in all, another thoroughly disappointing experience with a VPN provider. So far, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Astrill is the winner for those of us already in China. Sad times indeed.
I’ve tried a lot of VPNs and this is definitely one of the best available, worth the money you pay for it. If you’re as paranoid as I am you won’t mind paying for the great features you get.
I chose VyprVPN due to the fact that they build their own software, the speeds provided, and the privacy protection they offer. Other VPNS, unlike VyprVPN, use third party software or outsource their services to cut costs but that comes at a price in quality.
These are essential technologies and I used to take for granted the convenience of accessing basic things like work email while outside of the network limits. VyprVPN makes IT easy at a much more budget-friendly cost.
I made VyprVPN my VPN service.
Not outsourcing ANY aspects of its services to other companies was a huge plus for me.
If my VPN service doesnt have control of its servers, networks, and hardware, they just arent 100% reliable in my opinion.
A VPN service is useful when accessing public Wi-Fi hotspots because the public wireless services might not be secure. In addition to Wi-Fi security, a VPN service will also provide consumers with uncensored Internet access, help prevent data theft, and unblock websites.
With that said, VyprVPN is fast, secure, reliable, and pretty affordable. It turns on when you need it, and off when you don’t. Easy to use, no outsourced servers, and plenty of storage. Try it, you might like it.
My instructor for my Introduction to Networking class recommended VyprVPN mainly because of its secure storage space and speed. I used to use WiFi Protector because of its price, but VyprVPN Basic is fairly inexpensive(10 per month) and, now that I use my home computer for work more frequently, worth the extra cost. I have not needed to contact their tech support thus far, and I’m quite happy with it. I’d definitely recommend it over all of the free private networks out there, as it supports a greater variety of protocols and won’t slow your machine down.
I am a I.T. professional who has used tons of different VPN services in the past 9 year and I must say I am very impressed with VyprVPN. My main clients are lawyers and law assistants, and their security and speed requirements are top priority. Vyprvpn passes all those requirements with low latency connections and top level security. Five stars well deserved.
I work in web hosting environment and I know how useful VPN Services are really useful. When I travel I want to be able to be on a safe network and since I could not use the one from work I had to find an affordable and fast connection. VyprVPn is great a reliable and also I love their new Mobile App which makes my life easier. Thank you
Really great service that provides a super fast connection. Ive tried so many before and this is by far the fastest most reliable one yet! Highly Recommend to anyone!
Finally something that protects my computer while traveling across the country or just at my local coffee shop. This VPN package price is very reasonable especially since it’s also available for your devices while traveling internationally! Yep this YPN is a must-have for the freelancer’s lifestyle I lead!
I’ve been looking around for the VPN services and VyprVPN appears to be one of the best I’ve ever seen. It’s promise to keep everything secure is real, but the access it grants you worldwide, as well as the storage is great. Worth the price!
The price is right, I’ve never been disconnected, and when I called with a technical question I got a nice polite response. It’s a really good app for the iphone too.
I highly recommend VyprVPN to a majority of people. Unlike many other VPN’s their price is really good expectantly for the service you get from them. Their customer service here is really friendly and helped out when I had a few issues.
FIVE STARS!! I use VyprVpn especially because of the the price and tech support. Everything is resolved quickly. I would recommend VyprVPN to anyone whos not always around WAN.I’m happy to see they have discounted pricing and that they have a lot of upgrades. I’ll certainly make use of the apps they provide too. I would recommend this to every one I know.
I have been using Vpn since i was a teen in high school. These are very helpful when you cannot stay in tact with your computer as well as moments of inconvenience. i would prefer vyper overall other Vpn services. The price is low and quality remains high!
I have used VPN services in the past and have had pretty much the same experience as when we switched to VyprVpn. The main difference has been the price and tech support that Golden Frog offers. I had a problem initially with my iPhone setup but was able to get is resolved on the way to the airport. I would recommend VyprVPN to anyone who travels much and does not always have access to secure WAN. It is worth the money and as we all know, time is money and it has saved me in that arena as well.
While living abroad I found that a VPN is a necessity especially while living or traveling in China. A person doesn’t understand how important a VPN is until websites like YouTube and Facebook are blocked. This is perfect for those traveling. I would recommend VyprVPN to all my friends and family because the price is excellent (not expensive) and customer service is very handy.
I used this VPN in China where there is active internet censorship. I have never once had a problem with the server being unavailable or going down without warning. This is why I keep using this VPN, because it is reliable.
VyprVPN is a fast and reliable VPN with servers all around the globe. It comes complete with iOS and Android support at no extra charge. VyprVPN owning its own servers makes it an ideal over something like TOR for making your data anonymous. They take your privacy seriously and no third parties have access to your data.
I have been looking for a good VPN service for a long time and I have finally found the best! It works like a champ on my iPhone and turns off when I don’t need it. I would recommend this to anyone who is needing a reliable VPN. You will not regret it.
I have tried using a number of VPN services over the past year. Some were cheaper than VyprVPN, but with this one, you absolutely get what you pay for. The app is there when I need it, then when I don’t need it automatically turns off! This is probably the best app I have used on my iPhone in a while. Another thing that turned me onto this VPN was the security. There is no outsourcing with some of the other VPN services.
Fully agree with Ralph. Signed up today for their VPN service, but after a successful registration, I was not able to to log on.
Live Chat informed me I used the incorrect email address, while I was 100% sure which email address I used. They did not believe it could be there error.
I would not recommend anybody to register with VYPR VPN as the risk is too large that you will not be even able to log on, while you ARE BEING CHARGED!!! Especially this problems appeared before as well with Ralph.
I have just sent a few emails, but have not received a reply so far. This feels very similar to a scam so far.
I couldn’t get connected on my Mac. The .app didn’t work! Customer services offered no help over a period of 28 emails in 30 hours of me trying to get the connection. So I can’t comment on the speed, price, dump truck storage…..just couldn’t get together at all. AND they didn’t care?
Got my years subs refunded. There should be minus stars to rate this service.
I love vypr. It took me a while to switch over to them but the discounted pricing and the flood of new servers being introduced helped me take the plunge. It has lots of cool features and I love the apps. Speed is great too.
Very good service. I’ve been very pleased. My speeds are fast, had no disconnects and the apps are cool.
I’ve been really happy with vypr. The speeds are great, the extra’s are great and the discounted price is great.
I opted for vyprvpn after reading reviews on how their servers operate. They don’t outsource to 3rd party companies like other providers do. It seemed kind of weird that companies that are promoting privacy services like a vpn should then outsource their servers. That doesn’t sound very secure to me. I think vyprvpn has got it right.
I’d heard good things about vyprvpn so when I noticed the discounted pricing I thought I’d give it a try. I went with the Pro Plan and I’ve been very impressed. I’ve got fast speeds, there’s online storage included and lots of apps. I use it on my iphone too and vyprvpn on demand actually detects when you connect to the internet and automatically connects to the vpn for you so you don’t need to do anything yourself to get connected. I can also connect with my iphone even when I already have a vpn connection open on my desktop. They get a thumbs up!
I used this provider last summer when I travelled to China and had no problems. I was going to sign up with them again as I have another trip to China coming up so I was super happy to see they have discounted pricing at the moment and that they recently added a whole bunch of upgrades. I love the new vyprvpn mobile apps and the dump truck online storage that they’ve added to all their account plans. I’ll certainly make use of those. Five stars from me.
I have tried a lot of VPN services while traveling and I have to say this is the best service. It is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. I got the Pro account and installed the VyprVPN on demand app on my iPhone and it is awesome. It turns on when you need it, then turns off when you don’t need it. Fantastic app. Two thumbs up to Golden Frog.
