In this comparison, we put two already known VPN companies under the radar: TunnelBear and TigerVPN. There are a number of similarities between them and thus they are worthy of a comparison. Not for the sake of choosing a “better” one, but because this is another way for you to make an educated decision about whether or not these are purchases you are looking for in a VPN. The more fascinating part is that both of them also favor including humor in the presentation of their products. This is great! In our opinion, the most important thing to clarify about TigerVPN is that all their servers operate the same way. By this we mean that they handle a maximum of 1,000 Mbps of data traffic, which is important to know if your main concern is speed. The reason for this is that all countries and all ISPs are different in this matter. The Netherlands, for example – being a centre of West European data traffic – usually gets better stats than this (3,000+ Mbps), while more isolated places like South Africa get less than 1,000. Therefore, TigerVPN is great for you if you intend to connect to another country’s internet from a location that is more distant on the globe.

A bit of a disadvantage though is that there is no free trial for this company, but then again, you have the 42 countries to access with a fair log policy. We must also mention the friendly humor the company employs; though the Tiger is nothing more than a mascot, it elevates your mood.

If you seek a more potent source of genuine laughter next to being protected, you might want to take a look at TunnelBear. This Canadian company has won our heart with the elaborate theme they invented, which actually involves the rear end of bears sticking out of Mario-styled tunnels and assigning pictures of a cub or a giant specimen fighting with jets for the different pricing plans. For more specifics, TunnelBear has a free trial program that lets you use their services indefinitely. The only catch is that you get a maximum of 500 MBs per month to use, which is not much – you can add another GB if you participate in the company’s Twitter promotion.

We must praise the client software of TunnelBear, too. Not only is it equipped with a wooden design, but all you have to do is flip the one switch you are presented with, and you automatically connect to the best VPN server available to you, relative to location. Device support is more focused on PC, Mac OS X, Android and iOS.

Conclusion

Neither TunnelBear nor TigerVPN are animalistic; instead, they are involved in humor and rely on the ease of use for their respective software. They both project a light mood, which is rare for a VPN company. In the case of TigerVPN, this is more of a formality, while TunnelBear makes direct efforts to make you laugh. We appreciate both of them, especially since what they offer also has value. Even though TigerVPN does not have a free trial, they make up for it with a lot of locations to connect to and a favorable log policy. TunnelBear has a trial version, but they are more optimized for OS and mobile devices, while TigerVPN is a bit more extensive in terms of devices.
