Throughout our comparisons, this is the one article that is perhaps one sided. The case is such because StrongVPN is more of an average Virtual Private Network (VPN) service, while HideMyAss is among the very best today. They do have something rare in common though, and this is the main basis of our comparison. Both HideMyAss and StrongVPN offer connections to China, one of the most isolated countries in the world, as far as the internet goes (the situation is a bit more complex offline). This is the only part of their respective services that is worth examining is close detail; otherwise, HideMyAss easily outclasses StrongVPN in every other area.

StrongVPN is quite the interesting piece. In our opinion, the only significant advantage of the company is their speeds. Even in China, but there are some disturbing worries elsewhere. For one, the company favors the unreliable and unsafe PPTP protocol for some reason. Apart from this, you can have OpenVPN. Another cut on the fresh wound is that almost uniquely among VPN providers, you only have a limited number of server switches.
Also, StrongVPN uses static IP addresses. This is very bad, even with OpenVPN security. Once a certain address is tracked, it is gone, forever; it can be blocked out by countries like China. Because of these question marks listed above, we would even wager that Chinese connection might even happen in a controlled manner, visible to China. HideMyAss does not suffer from these errors at all.
If you seek to unblock any country’s online content, HideMyAss is probably your best bet. They are the closest to a global VPN service, with connections established in over 180 different countries, additionally, their repertoire includes locations like British Overseas Territories, or the majority of Polynesia. In terms of Chinese addresses, HideMyAss has three: one each in Shenzen, Renqiu and Chengdu. They work, but as with all connections that are made to or from countries that have strict internet policies, we strongly recommend OpenVPN level security.
You can enjoy HideMyAss in eight different languages, even including Turkish, Indonesian and Brazilian Portuguese. All languages are spoken in either countries with a high amount of consumers or a great population, showing that HideMyAss appeals to the biggest audiences. Overall quality is great indeed, and you yourself can try things out over the course of the 30-day free trial. Additionally, if you make a purchase, you have another month to think twice about it – you can refund what you bought any time.
We are concerned about StrongVPN. What they offer is presented convincingly, but that does not mean that you should fall for it. Issues with privacy and the lack of security protocols are worrisome, and while speeds are good, limitations on the pricing system (and high costs for what you get) prompt us not to recommend StrongVPN over HideMyAss to you.
HideMyAss is one of the best on the market today, and rightfully so. Next to the impressive set of locations you can get to and the extremely favorable trial-refund policy, you also have extended device support, and all the security protocols in use today. It is true that HideMyAss intends to highly generalize their content, but so far it works. We advise you to take a look at this company and what they are all about.
