Snapfish vs Mpix Photo Books Comparison

By Zoltán G.Zoltán G. Verified by Sander D.Sander D. Last updated: July 17, 2024 (0)

Although there are countless photo book builders, from downloadable professional software to simple online editors and mobile apps, there is one major rule: if you cannot provide quality service, then hasta la vista, baby. Therefore photo book companies always come up with something to attract new customers and keep the old ones. One of our contestants, Snapfish, stands out with an app-like interface housing a strong and reliable photo book editor. Its “adversary”, Mpix is like that person in the friend zone: even though it isn’t special at all, you can always count on it if you need a photo book within a short period of time.

So the choice seems pretty straightforward, right? Read our article and decide for yourself.

Overview comparison for Snapfish Photo Books, Mpix Photo Books

Snapfish

With a simple, straightforward, user-friendly photo book builder, it is kind of incomprehensible why Snapfish hasn’t developed an app of its software yet, because it already resembles one – and that is a huge pro nowadays. Furthermore, the app-like interface hides a good editor, which is proven by features like a price calculator, the complete customization of preset layouts and all 72 themes, and the addition of a gigantic list of embellishments. Photos can be uploaded from various sources (computer, Instagram etc.) and whether you use auto-fill or place them by yourself; you can make the most necessary modifications thereon to create an outstanding photo book.

Snapfish books are available in 5 sizes, 6 covers (including layflat, linen and leather), and can contain up to 150 pages in total. All books have rather cost-friendly price tags which can be reduced radically if you manage to pick one of the countless coupons and discounts like free shippingwelcome gifts, referring friends and free samples. Processing and shipping is amazingly fast (it only takes a week) and unlike many photo book companies, Snapfish provides 24/7 customer support that consists of options like direct feedback and tutorial videos.

Mpix

Mpix has a very basic photo book builder, but despite its limited abilities, it still does its job well. Both computer and social media photo uploads are supported and your pictures can be auto-filled into your photo book within seconds. Once the photos are placed, you can do the most basic modifications thereon, which is also true for the spell-checked texts you put into the photo book. If you don’t like the layout or the background of the selected theme, you can always change that here or in Editor 2.0 where you not only have a slightly bigger selection of backgrounds, but clipart pictures and photo borders as well. Depending on which one you choose from the 6 cover types, you can order your landscape or square book in 4 or 5 sizes made from regular or true photo paper and you have the option to get your books gift wrapped. And no matter what we wrote about Mpix’s pricing policy, we had to admit that it prints and ships its products faster than a speeding bullet: even with the slowest shipping method you can get your book to your doorstep under a week.

Conclusion

This choice seems a no-brainer at first, but like the old saying goes, do not judge a (photo) book by its coverPicaboo is a user-friendly, app-like editor with all the features necessary to quickly create the photo book of your dreams. Furthermore, features like a built-in price calculator, the many themes and a huge list of embellishments show the decency of Snapfish. And we haven’t even talked about the endless amount of coupons and discounts, fast processing and shipping, and the stellar customer support. Mpix, on the other hand, is a very simple photo book builder. It still has all the major customization options a decent editor needs like layout modification, and the cover, size and paper selection is also acceptable. The true strength of Mpix, however, is its brutally fast processing and shipping time, which is probably the best of the entire market.
