Trupanion has an insurance plan for dogs and cats, and it is a highly comprehensive policy. This plan does not limit the benefits to a set amount for the year. You can also use your pet’s insurance coverage to obtain all of the services that dogs and cats need without restriction. Included in the plan is coverage for tests, medicines, surgeries and stays in the hospital. With this plan, 90 percent of your dogs’ or cats’ treatment is covered, and you can choose to pay a deductible between $50 and $1,000.

Dogs and cats will be covered if they are ever injured or become sick, but treatment for congenital conditions is also covered. Furthermore, if you purchase therapeutic pet foods for your animals, you will only need to pay half the cost while the insurance policy covers the rest. Unfortunately, this plan does not cover pre-existing conditions, preventative care or dental treatments. Treatments for fleas and vaccinations also are not listed under this plan.

The Bronze, Silver and Gold plans from PetPlan

GoPetPlan.com has an option for dogs and cats, with choice between three different plans. Under the bronze, silver and gold plans, you can choose the one that reimburses your pet’s healthcare costs by 80 percent, 90 percent or 100 percent. The bronze plan offers the least amount of coverage, but it will be the most affordable. The gold plan covers all kinds of services, including the vet’s costs. It will even cover extraneous expenses, such as kennel costs and supplies $1,000 in the event that you need to cancel your vacation.
