The industry of registry cleaners and computer optimization programs is vast and filled with a good number of interesting products. One of them is Outbyte PC Repair, which we tested the to find out what it brings beyond that first free scan: a decent range of features for computer optimization that come in an intuitive app for all Windows computers. Even though the program is not cheap, the first payment is offered with a nice discount and all purchases are protected with a 30-day money-back guarantee, meaning anyone can try Outbyte PC Repair risk-free for a month.

The simple ‘scan and repair’ design and behavior of Outbyte PC Repair shows this is a computer optimization program aimed at the less tech-savvy. While the app was developed for Windows 10, the program is also compatible with older Microsoft computers, being able to run even on Windows XP. The feature range is in line with what would be expected, giving users such tools as an app uninstaller, real time privacy protection, web browser boost, a comprehensive file shredder, and more.
Along with the shredder – which we’ll explore a bit more later – the web browser booster is perhaps what deserves the biggest spotlight as it has a noticeable impact on loading up pages faster, especially in browsers which tend to be slower.
Despite all this, though, the app will still feel empty for the most experienced users. The scan log can be thoroughly inspected to choose what to repair and what to leave untouched, but that’s about as good as it gets. In addition, Outbyte PC Repair comes with few specific options for registry cleaning, instead focusing more on other computer components.

“Diagnosis is half the cure” as Outbyte rightfully says. In PC Repair, such diagnosis is quick, easy, and comprehensive enough. While some may prefer choosing different sections of the computer to analyze in greater detail, the program ensures that no stone is left unturned, looking at everything with the same level of attention.
Though sometimes Outbyte may go too far. We’re talking specifically about user’s passwords here, as one of the inspected sections is the credentials that have been saved in different browsers. This may raise a red flag but in Outbyte’s defense these passwords shouldn’t be saved there to begin with (nor should they be duplicated or easy to guess). But the point here is that, despite the company stating they don’t save or store these passwords, this program is not exactly in the community’s best regard already. So, it may be quite uncomfortable to have a program with that kind of reputation knowing our passwords.
The free version of Outbyte PC Repair is limited to scanning and one free repair, with an upgrade being required to access this function limitlessly.

For a program named PC Repair it is expected that its repairing function is top level. Fortunately, Outbyte delivers, as this will likely please users with different preferences. For instance, those who want their problems fixed as quick as possible will be happy to have the repair function ready as soon as the scan is complete. However, jumping into this immediately can be quite dangerous. Fortunately, Outbyte PC Repair has accounted for that and created the Rescue Center, accessible through the Help menu. Every time the user hits the repair button the program creates a restore point, which can then be used to revert any actions.
Adding to this, users can (and should) also access the entire scan log to get a more detailed insight on the issues found, as well as to manually choose what they want to be repaired or ignored. This is also the only way to see the prompted registry changes.
Outbyte PC Repair’s file shredder should also be mentioned here as it surprisingly goes beyond what’s usually offered. Instead of a basic file removal tool, users can opt for up to four different wiping methods that go from faster and lighter to slower and heavier.
There is only one paid version of Outbyte PC Repair, meaning that all users get the same unlimited access to the full set of features. The only choice is how many computers a license includes. This also dictates the price to pay, with $29.95 the cost for a single computer, $39.95 for five computers, and $49.95 for an unlimited number of computers.
However, there’s good and bad news about these prices as well. Outbyte’s prices include a $30 discount automatically applied by the company to the different licenses’ default cost, but the downside is that, even then, they’re actually quite expensive as they correspond to three-month subscriptions. And it gets worse. According to Outbyte, subscriptions are “automatically renewed for another term of the same length and billed at the standard price”, so those who don’t choose to cancel their subscription are bound to pay an exaggerated $59.95, $69.95, or $79.95, respectively, for just three more months.
Fortunately, all purchases include a 30-day money-back guarantee, which can always be used as a risk-free testing period. Payment methods include credit cards and PayPal.
Outbyte PC Repair’s customer service oddly feels like a premium feature. For the general public, the only way to contact the company directly is via email. However, those who have purchased the license key for the program have a larger range of options, including on-call and remote desktop assistance, as well as a 24/7 live chat. The company’s latest news and all other relevant information can be checked on the company’s blog, but Facebook, Twitter and other social media pages have been deactivated, and therefore cannot be used to ask for assistance. Speaking of which, Outbyte PC Repair features a virtual assistant to help guide users within the program.
Outbyte PC Repair has the difficult task of clearing the bad reputation it has over the internet. Perhaps some of that infamy is justified, and some it’s surely exaggerated. The program has some positive aspects such as the web browser booster, the comprehensive file shredder, or the editable repair section, which altogether make it a decent computer optimization program. But customers looking for specific registry cleaning components will likely feel it comes up short, as some other programs usually provide a greater insight in this department.
