New iBeat Smartwatch Calls Help for Heart Patients

New iBeat Smartwatch Calls Help for Heart Patients

By Tamás Ő.Tamás Ő. Verified by Sander D.Sander D. Last updated: July 14, 2024 (1)

Do you know, dear reader, why fall detection pendants are so popular? Because they are capable of diagnosing the wearer’s situation on their own, and call for help even if the person is unconscious. Autonomous medical alarm systems are the key to a peace of mind. However, there are cases when the technology is less effective. For example when someone is lying on the bed and suddenly experiences a stroke or cardiac arrest, the pendant won’t be activated unless the wearer falls to the ground afterwards. But fear not, patients with heart problems, as a new innovation in the form of iBeat smartwatches provides the much wanted help.

The iBeat heart monitoring smartwatch

iBeat is designed to be a sleek and stylish wrist accessory that acts as a safety measure for life threatening heart emergencies. Although it functions as a regular watch – showing the time, completed by a programmable timer and alarm – it also houses an array of sensors that constantly monitor your pulse and blood flow. In case your heartbeat is disrupted or has stopped, the watch immediately switches to alert mode. At this point the smartwatch asks whether or not the emergency is real, a feature that was implemented to avoid false alerts. By answering yes or not pushing any button, the system contacts the company’s dispatch HQ for help, as well as sending a text message for friends and family members.

You don’t have to do anything; the dispatchers will summon the paramedics to your location. The smartwatch is completely cellular, waterproof and only needs charging once a week. The device was made to be comfortable so that people would wear it even when they sleep. iBeat is currently under development, but you can place a pre-order for it now. When the heartbeat watch is finally out, it will cost $250 plus $20 per month for the monitoring plan.

iBeat or medical alarm system?

Even though we wholeheartedly support the innovation of iBeat, it’s fairly obvious that this smartwatch is one step away from being a medical alert help button. Even the services are fairly similar: both of them boast a professional team of dispatch agents who are combat-ready 24/7 and have your medical history on file. However, if you wish to provide comprehensive protection for your loved one, you need both a fall detection pendant and an iBeat smartwatch, since they each monitor different health issues. Unfortunately opting for both devices at the same time takes a heavy toll on your wallet, since in doing so you will need to purchase two separate products alongside two monthly subscription services for monitoring. We are positive that medical alert companies will quickly adapt the technology and offer heart monitoring watches alongside their established products, granting safety for a more affordable price.

  1. so far there have been few progress updates…less news gives me less confidence…even if there are problems saying so would make me more confident in the startup…
..maybe they should sell the concept to fitbit…as they could more easily monetize and monitor this monthly payment stream…if it comes out I would use it if I can trust the developer
