Ever since its foundation in 1989, MacMall and its affiliate PCMall have been focusing on the retail of new computing products, including those of Apple. However, even those customers who just want to upgrade their existing devices can find various items such as system memory, hard drives and plenty of accessories. MacMall is also a strong choice for businesses, too, since clients are entitled to custom prices, affordable credit, access to the Employee Purchase Program, software licensing and much more.

But it doesn’t matter whether you are a regular or a business customer, MacMall offers the latest Apple products on the market with great discounted prices, money back guarantees and warranties provided by the manufacturer. And this is all before even mentioning the versatile customer support, the option for rebates and, best of all, free shipping within all U.S. states when your total exceeds a certain amount.

Product Range and Offerings

Compared to its PC counterpart, MacMall’s offers are pretty weak, and unfortunately both sites need to work on their layout. But in their own regard they do at least cover everything you might need, at least if you are looking for new products. It’s worth mentioning that whenever you purchase a new MacBook, Mac Mini, iMac, Mac Pro or iPad, it can be customized it to your liking with various parts from bigger memory and hard drives with more capacity to software and even custom engravings.

If you are interested in upgrading your existing device, however, you’ll need to do a little trick. To make sure that you find Mac-optimized products, select “Apple Electronics & Accessories” then “Mac Accessories” from the drop down list. This will reveal all kinds of products, including RAM and other hardware with which you can boost your Mac’s performance. However, if your interest is in software, then expect to take a detour to the PC section and search under computer software.

Business Solutions

Corporate customers are in for a treat at MacMall, particularly because of the Corporate Access Page (CAP). The most important aspect of being a business customer instead of a regular one is the opportunity to apply for business credit, ranging from $300 to $50,000. Aside from the leases, corporate clients can also enjoy customized prices, software licensing instead of buying them, configuration services (imaging, asset tagging, repair and phone support) and the option to purchase extended hardware support. To make things better, CAP also comes with the Employee Purchase Program (EPP) through which the employees of a business can purchase quality Apple products and services for special prices, make use of the MacMall 24/7 support and even become entitled to free and easy setup.

Services

Although MacMall’s primary profile is as a retailer of Apple products, the company does offer services as well. The core offering here is AppleCare, with which you can extend the usual one-year limited warranty to two years. Some AppleCare services occasionally come with a discount on the recommended retail price, while extravagant premium versions of this service such as AppleCare OS Support Alliance come at a whopping $49,995.

As for other services available, MacMall provides solutions for purchasing or licensing software solutions, a Software License Asset Manager (SLAM) for an individual to deal with all their software licenses in one place, and plans created by its partner Service Net. These plans are most beneficial for clients, with options of either the hardware plan for up to three years of extra protection on devices and parts, or the replacement plan available for products costing $350 or less.

Pricing

MacMall features Deal of the Week and Deals of the Day where you’ll find recent MacBooks, iPads and other devices with modest but welcomed discounts ranging between 5-15% compared to the prices in Apple’s official online store. They don’t mess around with their prices to create savings that aren’t actual savings and are on the whole fair when it comes to the pricing of their products.

Every item having a price tag of $79 or more and weighting 50lbs or less is shipped without charge to anywhere within the U.S. And speaking of shipping, most products fall into the expedited 1-3 day delivery category, which doesn’t require an extra fee.

Aside from the one-year warranty, all new products come with a 14-day money back guarantee, while items previously purchased from MacMall can be subject to a rebate, the price of which is always determined by the company after individual analysis. Business customers can easily submit a request for a quote for either purchasing or leasing hardware from MacMall, and can apply for business credit of up to six months.

Don’t be fooled by the 24/7 customer service MacMall promises to its clients, this is only true if you have questions related to sales. However, despite this little hiccup – well, that and the fact that the detailed Help page can only be reached if you go back from certain sub-pages – the staff is available every day during business hours (from 6am to 5pm). Whether you are a U.S. resident or you live abroad, you can contact the customer support via phone, live chat, an enquiry form, and various email addresses.

Unfortunately support via social media is out of question: MacMall’s Facebook page has been dormant since 2016 (just like the blog), while the Twitter page is devoid of any posts. But where MacMall doesn’t quite shine with its social media presence, it makes up for it with its YouTube channel, which contains plenty of webinars and tutorials regarding the available products and services.

Bottom line

If you want to purchase a new relatively affordable Apple product with discounted prices, then MacMall is a good choice for you. However, if your hope is to upgrade your existing Mac, then you’ll find yourself in a bit of a pickle: not only because accessing Mac accessories and software is finicky, but also due to the fact that MacMall is mostly a retailer of new devices.

Still, the retailer does provide some ways of upgrading Macs and other Apple products, plus the company has a well-established policy for custom prices and extra services aimed at business clients. And to top it all, orders come with a money back guarantee while products exceeding $79 are always delivered for free, making MacMall a champion regarding affordability.
