When examining the word of VPN, you’ll encounter a landslide of offers of all sorts. Even if you are well versed in the technical terms, the sheer amount of services you can access is astonishing. And by looking at the well-phrased marketing lines and advertisements, small details and missing features might slip under your radar. Not to mention you definitely don’t have time to properly test each and every one of them. But luckily for you, we’ve already done that, and we are ready to share our experiences about two noteworthy contestants, LiquidVPN and NordVPN. LiquidVPN is a Michigan-based company that was founded in 2012. As a relatively new player on the field, it understands the importance of user-friendliness. Unlike other companies, who like to restrict your access to a bare minimum of devices, your LiquidVPN account can be used simultaneously on 10 devices. You can also enjoy unlimited bandwidth when tunneling your data over one of the 50 servers located in 10 countries.
Sadly, LiquidVPN lacks separate client software, and you need to use an open-source client to set up the connection. The company makes up for this by providing proper guidelines for the process. They also provide a wide variety of protocols, and they implemented a kill switch feature, too. Their user-friendliness is shown when they state that only a bare minimum of your date is logged during sessions. This is inevitable, because some activities are required to maintain the connection. Still, they make a clear distinction between business and casual ventures.
NordVPN is a Panama-based VPN service brought to you by Tefincom. The company’s history goes back to 2008, and over the years they’ve become a well-recognized provider. Users are allowed to enjoy full freedom thanks to the 27 available locations, which include the U.S., Europe, Asia and even South Africa, a rare sight in the VPN world. Sadly, our experience showed that connection speed is rather slow.
Unless you need a fast paced data transfer for streaming, NordVPN definitely covers you. They use double data encryption, and people can easily switch between the three protocols types thanks to their sophisticated client software. The service also boasts some nice extras, like the free proxy server extensions for Google Chrome and the chat message encryption. As for device support, you can expect it to seamlessly work with Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, Linux Ubuntu, Chromebook and some flash routers.
NordVPN and LiquidVPN are polar opposites of each other. While NordVPN provides an iron-tight defense thanks to its double encryption feature and established device support, LiquidVPN offers more simultaneous connections and more protocol types. Although NordVPN includes a better range of available countries, this leads to their biggest mistake: the slow connection speeds. LiquidVPN has less variety, and they also lack a proper client, though close-distance connections run on a flawless speed with them. Jumping to the topic of prices, LiquidVPN owns a hybrid model where you can choose from pre-made packages and customizable deals. On the other hand, NordVPN has three plans that allow you to spare more on the monthly cost by opting for a longer period.
