Overview comparison for IdentityForce, LifeLock

IdentityForce

Based out of Framingham, Massachusetts is IdentityForce, which has evolved into one of the very best in the market since its launch in 2005. What IdentityForce is able to boast above anything else is the sheer volume of features it offers. IdentityForce monitors just about everything that’s needed, from the basics like bank balance alerts and investments alterations, to whether a third party might be enjoying access to your medical benefits. IdentityForce also gives you daily updates about your credit score as well as a simulator to see how any future decisions may impact your credit score. On top of these are extras like PC protection which provides anti-phishing and anti-keylogging security, and mobile protection to keep you safe from rogue apps and unsafe Wi-Fi connections.

IdentityForce

With any identity theft protection, you’ll want to be able to get help whenever you’re under attack, and IdentityForce provides 24/7 toll-free support. The IdentityForce website is home to a huge amount of information on the subject, including webinars, FAQs, and even quizzes to make sure you’ve been paying attention. Despite the fact that IdentityForce is one of the pricier options, it really gives you more bang for your buck. And you can test all of it out first by taking advantage of their 14-day free trial.

LifeLock

Being part of industry giant Symantec gives LifeLock a great reputation. LifeLock is now able to boast over four million customers who are protected by its identity theft solution. As you’d expect from its pedigree, it does all the basics well. LifeLock will check to see if anyone has been making applications for things like new credit or refinancing in your name. It’ll also make sure there’s been no change of address, that your information hasn’t appeared in any data breaches, or even that your details haven’t appeared on any sex offender registries. In a sense, LifeLock’s Symantec association gets in the way, as there’s little in LifeLock that you won’t find elsewhere. Extras like IdentityForce’s mobile protection are only available if you get LifeLock as part of a Norton 360 package.

LifeLock has excellent customer service, with phone support available 24/7. You can also get in touch with an expert by email, live chat, or LifeLock’s social media accounts. The fairly sparse Standard subscription is very reasonably priced, even taking into account the small price increase that occurs after the first year. Unfortunately, there’s no way of testing LifeLock before you buy, though you will be covered by a 60-day money-back guarantee.

Conclusion

On the face of it, it seems like IdentityForce is the best of the best in the identity theft protection field, with the sheer volume of monitoring and reporting features it offers. We particularly like the daily credit reporting and helpful extras. However, we can’t discount LifeLock. Thanks to its Symantec links, LifeLock works wonderfully as part of the bigger Norton 360 package, giving you protection for just about every aspect of your online life, and at a cheaper price than its rival. But no matter which identity theft protection you choose, you’ll be in the safest of hands.
