ibVPN (short for Invisible Browsing VPN) and Private Internet Access (PIA) are facing off today in our comparison. ibVPN boasts a 56 server network in 15 countries while PIA has more than 269 servers in 9 countries. ibVPN are currently providing PPTP, L2TP/IPsec, OpenVPN and SSTP while Private Internet Access offers PTTP, LT2P/IpSec and OpenVPN but don’t provide SSTP and standalone IPSec protocols. PrivateInternetAccess.com does however offer SSL support, which is missing from the ibVPN list.

ibVPN declares that their service works on all available operating systems from Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows Mobile sartphones and Linux systems. You can also connect DD-WRT supported routers and Xbox 360/PS3 game consoles. PIA offers a similar compatibility list but their VPN service won’t work with game consoles.

ibVPN vs Private Internet Access comparison

Go to our VPN comparison chart to compare ibVPN and Private Internet Access with other VPN providers.

The costs

ibVPN are offering a free 6-hour ultimate account trial, a 15-day money back guarantee and subscription plans based on 1, 3, 6 or 12 months periods. Their packages include a handful of country specific choices, a torrent only deal, and 3 premium plans that all have different device compatibility details. ibVPN’s prices range from $4.95 to $19.95 a month.

The PIA pricing system is much simpler and you get full device compatibility with their VPN plans. The only variable is the duration of the contract, with a yearly package only costing $3.33 a month.

The key differences

There are a few key differences between the ibVPN and PIA VPN services. Firstly, ibVPN has less servers but their network is spread across more countries. This means that you have more options where you want to appear to be connecting from. If you need VPN functionality for your online gaming then the choice is easy since Private Internet Access doesn’t support these devices. PIA’s pricing plans are very simple, while ibVPN on the other hand has more customization options and you may be better off choosing them if you only use mobile devices and pick their mobile plan.
