GoChatty welcomes anyone aged over 18 to create a profile describing their personality and sharing their interests. On this site, you can find people from all over the world to chat with in real time. Although it can be used as a place to meet new people, the site highlights it aims to encourage connections beyond casual chats.

Using GoChatty is quite simple. The platform is easy to navigate, all pages are quick to load, and searching for people to chat with is utterly straightforward. You can search among all profiles or narrow down only those who are online, new, or popular. Then, it’s possible to filter the profiles by gender, age, and continent. However, we found that the filter function wasn’t accurate, as many profiles of women were still displayed even when choosing to look for men only.

The location filter didn’t work 100% either. Although the platform mostly displays people located in the continent selected, profiles in different places still appear. Even so, you can easily see under each person’s name the country and city where they are located.

Although there isn’t a mobile app, the website is optimized for smaller screens. All its resources work well on browsers of portable devices, so it’s still possible to chat on the go.

Creating a profile on GoChatty requires an email address, but you can also connect your existing Google or Facebook account to automatically import some profile information. The mandatory information required is your name, birth date, and country. Then, you can edit your profile to upload pictures and share other personal details like your occupation and level of education.

You can verify your identity to earn your profile’s ‘confirmed account’ badge. The verification process requires the user to send photos according to GoChatty’s requirements. In addition to the profile badge, verified users benefit from increased visibility in search results and recommendations. However, we highlight that we got our verified account badge after confirming only our email, so we can’t really say that the verification process is accurate and trustworthy.

Different from other dating platforms, GoChatty doesn’t work on a matching system. Users can instantly message anyone they like, regardless of whether likes were exchanged. The messages tab displays all chats, and you can add emojis and stickers to each conversation.

It’s also possible to send media like photos, videos, and voice messages. Plus, you can pin conversations to appear high on your chats list. If you have any problems with someone you’re chatting to, you can easily block them and report abuse. Keep in mind that every interaction requires credits in the form of ‘GoCoins’, which you can purchase on the credits page.

We have to admit that we found it a bit disconcerting that in the first minute of creating an account, we received two new messages – we hadn’t uploaded a photo or any personal information. After 20 minutes, we had 25 messages from different people. This level of interaction so early on, especially considering our profile was completely blank, does raise legitimacy concerns.

GoChatty operates on a coin-based system. Each package of 20 GoCoins costs $4.66, but newcomers enjoy 36% off this price for the first purchase. The platform also offers 20 free GoCoins for new users, which you can use to test it before opening your wallet. So, since the regular price is $0.23 per GoCoin, we found that chatting with GoChatty isn’t cheap.

The coin-based system charges two GoCoins per minute for chat sessions. During this timeframe, you can send as many messages, stickers, and emojis as you wish. Once the minute is over, two more GoCoins are charged again.

Sending photos, videos, and voice messages costs extra. A regular photo costs 10 coins, a disappearing photo costs 20 coins, a disappearing video costs 40 coins, and a voice message costs 25 coins. Disappearing photos and videos are deleted after 12 hours. Payment methods accepted are major credit cards, PayPal, and bank payments.

GoChatty offers customer support via live chat and email. We reached out via live chat and after an initial response from a chatbot, we then spoke to a support agent who helped us out quickly. We also got in touch via email, and although we got a response via email in less than 24 hours, our question remained unclear.

So overall, we were pleased with GoChatty’s customer service. The company also has a blog where it shares articles with tips and best practices related to dating and meeting people online. Plus, it maintains an active presence on its Facebook and Instagram pages.

However, there are significant drawbacks, like ineffective filtering options, user authenticity concerns, and unreliable customer support. Also, the pricing model can be costly, with 20 GoCoins priced at $4.66 and additional costs for media sharing. However, new users benefit from a 36% discount on the first purchase and a free trial of 20 GoCoins, providing an opportunity to explore the platform before committing financially.
