Perhaps the best thing about online faxing is that you no longer have to listen to the screeching noise when you dial a fax number. That’s not the only feature that has helped send faxing into the 21st century though. Online fax services now offer increased security, faster sending times, sleek mobile apps, and much more. Two such services are FAX.PLUS and MetroFax, both filled with handy functions to suit modern needs. However, they don’t have the exact same features so which one you should go for depends on how you intend to use your online fax service.

Overview comparison for FAX.PLUS, MetroFax

FAX.PLUS

The cuckoo clock, cheese, chocolate, and FAX.PLUS – Switzerland is known for many things. Created in 2015, FAX.PLUS now claims to be the number one online fax service in the world. It’s a big claim, but there are plenty of things to enjoy. Certainly, the service has one of the best designs around and there are plenty of features too. Users can import contacts from spreadsheets, blacklist unwanted numbers, and add digital signatures to faxes. Another neat aspect of FAX.PLUS is that you can integrate the service with Microsoft Office, meaning you could send a fax directly from Word. If you need even more integrations, Enterprise users will be able to access the service’s API to develop their own app. On top of that, there’s an admin panel – perfect for businesses that want to create a hierarchical structure for their users.

FAX.PLUS is a flexible service too, offering five different pricing tiers. What’s even better is that one of these tiers is completely free, so you’ll be able to send 10 free faxes a month without paying any installation fees.

MetroFax

While FAX.PLUS is a relatively new service on the faxing market, rival solution MetroFax has been going since 1997. Now a part of j2 Global – the company that also owns eFax – the service has used its experience to its advantage. MetroFax allows you to manage your messages well, with customized folders and tags to make finding your faxes easier. All of this is stored in an encrypted inbox with unlimited storage. One missing feature from MetroFax is the lack of electronic signatures, although it does allow you to send faxes to up to 50 recipients at once. The MetroFax mobile app is particularly useful if you want to fax on the go, allowing you to import your phone’s contacts and send files directly from your device.

The other difference is in the pricing, which is one of the main reasons to opt for MetroFax to begin with. For starters, the cheapest plan comes with 500 free fax pages in total and costs only $7.95 per month, a price that can be reduced to just $6.63 per month if you decide to go for the annual subscription. Even the highest plan is worth its price – especially for small businesses – since it provides 2,500 free pages for approximately $30 per month on an annual subscription. And if that’s not convincing enough, all plans come with a sweet 3-day free trial.

Conclusion

This is one of the few instances where the winner of a comparison is a no-brainer: MetroFax. Not only is it a simple and straightforward solution providing everything that you’ll need to send and receive faxes with ease, but it also has some pretty innovative extras like the option to fax from email accounts, the downloadable MetroFax Messenger software or the dedicated iOS and Android apps. And to put the icing on the cake, MetroFax has great value for money, too, providing its services for less than $7 a month.

But, in all honesty, MyFax shouldn’t be written off either since it can still perform the most important fax-related tasks that individuals and SMBs are usually looking for. And even if MetroFax is undoubtedly the better choice where the feature set and value for money are concerned, picking either of these online faxing solutions are at least safe choices, providing long-lasting customer satisfaction.
