What might appear an unlikely couple at first sight is now justified from a perspective. CyberGhost and Private Internet Access are quite the oddballs on the VPN market. Their reasons are different, and thus we decided it is worth examining what makes them stand out a bit. Surprisingly, the oddness does not lie in some ludicrous offer or an unseen feature, but rather in the lack of it. CyberGhost and Private Internet Access are good companies because they do not make much hassle about themselves; rather their strength lies in consistency and a common trait: P2P support. It is true that there are only a handful of countries that openly support file sharing, and the fact that both of these organizations offer such options even in places where it is restricted or illegal suggests that both of them are high on safety.

CyberGhost’s advantages do not hide like some lost spirit. A great edge of theirs for example is that they offer a free VPN package. Not only that, but this free account has no time limit on it; you can use CyberGhost for free, forever (or at least for as long the company lasts). There is one hitch to it: you have a data cap instead that refreshes every month. You have 500 MBs to work with, which is not much. If you become a customer, you have more elaborate options. File sharing is supported at CyberGhost, as all servers favor P2P. If you are more of a browser than a torrent head, you can access the online content of the USA, Romania (CyberGhost’s host country) or Germany, completely free.
The free proxy menu on the official site just needs a few clicks and you are good to go. This is especially valuable considering that similar services like a smart DNS are not always free. And lastly, we also have to highlight the festive mood of the company. Seasonal discounts are always present, up to 50% for their VPN.
So this is one of the best services on the market today. But – as opposed to most other companies – not because they have a selling point that makes them unique, or outstanding in some respect. Private Internet Access is nothing “special”. But the general quality of what they offer is high, and this results in a very well balanced package. Of course, there are some minor extras more rarely seen here. The incredible mobile device support is a great example here – the Android app is good in itself, and the iOS software even has the OpenVPN security protocol (almost everybody uses L2TP for mobiles).
Private Internet Access also favors a lot of devices, as next to the usual OS and mobile machines, gaming consoles are welcome as well. And what really ties CyberGhost and Private Internet Access together is their P2P help. In fact, this company is even more explicit about such internet activity than the former.
To conclude, CyberGhost and Private Internet Access are nothing special. Do not be disappointed, though – we mean this in a positive way! While they do not have extra special things to offer, the average quality of what they have is great, and this makes both suitable choices. For CyberGhost, the free account is definitely an option to fall back on, though the strict data cap limits its usage. Romania as a location is also decent, since VPN companies there are kept on a loose leash. Private Internet Access is great if you seek a relaxed environment for internet safety. Though they do not have a free trial (coupon codes only), fantastic mobile support and P2P opportunities prove that this company too is worth considering.
