Considering the scope of the competition, a well-identifiable dating concept or unique feature is crucial in the online dating scene. Christian Mingle caters not only to Christian singles, but also to movie lovers, since it played an important role in a romantic comedy of the same name telling an adorable story about online matchmaking. eHarmony, on the other hand, hasn’t made it onto the big screen yet, but among its staff it boasts Dr. Neil Clark Warren, a big-name psychologist whose unique personality test has in fact become the main selling point of the service.

Overview comparison for Christian Mingle, eharmony

Christian Mingle

Christian Mingle was launched in 2001 by Spark Network, an experienced dating site group who also gave JDate to the world. The site itself sports a timeless look and user-friendly interface, which can be customized to your liking after the quick registration or later on. Since the site focuses on Christian singles, you can choose from a wide list of denominations. Since 2016 gay singles can register, too.

In order to make the matchmaking as simple as possible, the system shows you how many common interests you share with your partner, which is further supported by a compatibility index. Singles have the option to answer pre-made questions about their faith and beliefs on the profile page, thus adding a special flavor to dating. Naturally, singles can ask each other direct questions in emails or via live chat – a feature exclusive to paid subscribers.

Christian Mingle offers monthly, quarterly and semi-annual plans. One month of being a subscribed member costs $29.99 per month, but if you subscribe for a longer period of time, monthly prices will drop significantly: the quarterly plan charges $19.99 per month, while the semi-annual subscription drops the cost to $14.99 per month.

eHarmony

eHarmony was established in 2000, back when the concept of online dating was still a new and sizzling hot topic. The creators of the site set the bar pretty high: eHarmony not only provides top quality matchmaking, but also presents one of the most compelling personality tests ever conceived by a dating site. Registration only takes a couple of seconds after which an extensive questionnaire awaits you that, once evaluated, will form the so-called Book of You, which explains your personality in great detail.

Your personality test is incorporated into matchmaking as well: in fact, eHarmony grants members a list of recommended profiles based on their matching traits and preferences. Aside from conducting a thorough personality test for the best date results, the other strong point of the site is the profile system: profile pages organize the information in an efficient manner, making it not only informative but also rather fun for potential date candidates. And as a nice addition, eHarmony profiles are rather extensive when it comes to hobbies as well.

The only downside of the service is the high price: the shortest commitment time starts at half a year, charging you for $31.95 per month, but you can opt for a two-year plan as well that reduces monthly costs to $12.95 per month.

Conclusion

Both eHarmony and Christian Mingle put some emphasis on religion in their matchmaking, but the latter is the one that puts religion in its focus.

eHarmony reaches for a wider audience, while Christian Mingle aims for a specific group. They both sport a nice and intuitive design across their website and apps, although the profile system is more interesting with eHarmony. On the other hand, it’s easier to search for matches on Christian Mingle, not to mention it provides forums dedicated to discussing faith and religion. Pricing-wise Christian Mingle is much more affordable with shorter commitment times, although eHarmony offers more advanced features for your money.
