CactusVPN vs BTGuard Comparison

CactusVPN vs BTGuard Comparison

By Daniel C.Daniel C. Verified by Sander D.Sander D. Last updated: August 20, 2024 (0)

There are a large number of VPN or Virtual Private Network services available today, and that probably makes it quite difficult when it comes to making a choice. VPN service providers usually offer a slew of features at competitive rates, making it quite difficult for a prospective buyer to make the final decision. However, here’s a decent comparison of two popular VPNs: CactusVPN vs BTGuard.

CactusVPN is an offshore VPN service and it caters to several parts of the world, thanks to its servers located in the US, as well as the UK and the Netherlands. BTGuard‘s VPN services are also quite sought after, thanks to the endorsements it has received from privacy activists. Based in Canada, this VPN solution is ideal for businesses that are looking for uncompromised security with maximum speed.

Overview comparison for CactusVPN, BTGuard

Features

Having servers located in different continents allows CactusVPN to offer some really interesting packages, such as country-specific VPN services, or VPN packages that make use of servers located in all three countries (USA, UK and The Netherlands). CactusVPN offers a 24-hour free trial, and features a 30-day money-back policy to boot.

BTGuard is directed towards file sharing, and provides anonymity over the internet while indulging in file sharing or similar online activity. BTGuards torrent proxy services provide just that: a secure anonymous way to share files across the bit torrent network. The VPN services provided by them are also quite simple, yet effective, with servers located in the US, Canada and Asia.

Pricing

CactusVPN offers its VPN services at a rate of $4.58 per month, if purchased as a 12-month plan. The packages come with some good features, such as auto-reconnection in case of a connection loss, application killers, and unlimited unmetered bandwidth. However, their server in the Netherlands is the only one that allows torrent activity (P2P).

BTGuard’s VPN services start at $9.95 per month, and offer 256-bit AES encryption. BTGuard also does not maintain any logs of the client’s activity, making sure that total anonymity prevails at its side.

Conclusion

Both services are pretty attractively priced, and are aimed at particular clientele. While CactusVPN is more apt for someone who needs VPN services with IPsec and SSTP protocols, BTGuard is better suited for people who swear by torrent sites.
