Anonine is a VPN service that aims to create a ‘safe zone’ by putting the anonymity of its users first. Anonine offers a strict no logs policy to ensure privacy and includes military-grade encryption as well as support for P2P and online streaming, and all this for a great price. Based out of the Seychelles and having servers running in Sweden ensures that Anonine, made by Edelino Commerce, can back up its privacy claims. Edelino Commerce has plenty of experience in the VPN field having set up several services since 2009. Unfortunately, Anonine doesn’t have the option for a free trial but there is a risk-free seven-day money-back guarantee if you’re not completely satisfied.

Kill switch

Anonine is a P2P-friendly VPN but not every server available is compatible for using torrents. Users will have to check the server list to find out which servers can be used for torrenting before connecting. Server lists also show which ones have port forwarding enabled. While not every server is P2P-friendly, we found that the majority maintain good download speeds, so you’ll find no problems with streaming and there are specific servers optimized for BBC iPlayer and U.S. Netflix.

Anonine has recently added WireGuard to its list of protocols. Switching to WireGuard instead of OpenVPN, or any of the many other modern protocols supported by Anonine, may show a significant increase in internet speeds – another great feature for those looking to download and stream. If it’s your first time using WireGuard then don’t worry, there are some great set-up guides on the Anonine website that will have beginners ready to go in no time.

Besides that, Anonine doesn’t offer a vast variety of features. Anonine’s apps are designed to be functional and easy-to-use but they don’t go much further than connecting you to a server and sending you on your way.

Anonine doesn’t hold a blockbuster number of servers, with just 150 servers from 34 different countries from all over the world (although none of them are based in Africa).

The speed varies from server to server, we tested from Europe and found, as expected, that nearby servers scored very well with little speed drops, including the iPlayer server which streamed without issue. Testing out one of Anonine’s Netflix servers showed a noticeable drop in speed, although it was still fast enough for streaming. Going further afar reduced the speed considerably, which wasn’t a surprise, but when testing out the Tokyo server we found it to run a massive 90% slower than normal.

Safeguarding user privacy is what really makes Anonine stand out; it uses the industry standard AES 256-bit encryption and the choice of WireGuard and OpenVPN amongst other protocols, meaning there are no worries about security. However, the kill switch is only available on the Windows app so anyone using other systems should take note.

We had a look through Anonine’s privacy policy to see how their apparently strict “no logs” policy holds up. It does, Anonine holds onto very little user data, just keeping your username, email address, password, and payment history. Experienced users will know you can set up a brand new email (as Anonine encourages) and then pay with cryptocurrency to really increase your anonymity. Anonine does store the amount of traffic used per user (in total MB/s) for server maintenance but they only keep this information for two months. Besides this, no vital data is stored at all, which means there are no logs, no timestamps, no connections, locations, addresses, or DNS requests.

Anonine has a desktop client for Windows users but there is no client for Mac users. Mobile users will be satisfied as both Android and Apple phones have their own simple application. Anonine is also available for other systems including Linux and can be used with Apple TV as well as PlayStation and Xbox, albeit with no dedicated application.

We tested out the Android app and found it simple and easy to navigate, and we were connected almost immediately. After opening the Anonine app, you can either connect to a location of your choice or the Optimum Location option. When testing the Optimum Location feature, we found it gave us a server location to use the majority of the time but occasionally threw us a curveball with a location on the other side of the world. Unless you’re in a particular rush you’re better off spending the extra half second choosing a suitable location yourself. The Android app could use more care in its layout; one example is that the live chat function isn’t where you might expect it to be. Confusingly, the support menu only allows you to send emails but going through the FAQ guides is the only way to find the live chat function – it’s a simple problem that could be easily fixed.

Pricing

Anonine is one the best value for money VPNs out there. It uses the standard three option price plan with the cheapest available plan starting at just $3.99 a month.

There are no differences in the features over the three plans. Unlike other VPN service prices, you won’t feel ripped off by choosing to have a shorter subscription either. Although 12-month deals are the cheapest, a three-month subscription comes to $5.99 and a single month will cost you just $6.99, much cheaper than most of its rivals for a similar timeframe. There are no free trials or special offers available for Anonine however the 7-day money-back guarantee means you can test everything on offer before you commit.

If you do decide to subscribe, then you’ll find that there are plenty of payment options. As usual you can pay with credit card and PayPal but those who want to pay with greater anonymity will be pleased to see that Anonine also supports 15 major cryptocurrencies.

Anonine claims to offer 24/7 support but sometimes you will find opening the live chat function gives you an away message. When someone is on the other side it’s usually a 15-minute wait for a reply to your query. Otherwise, you’ll have to email your query or fill out a ticket. Anonine has little social media presence, and although they do have Facebook and Twitter, they’re rarely updated and you’re unlikely to find any help through there.

The Anonine website has some excellent user guides that walk you through any process so that even the most novice user will be able to get to grips with the most complex settings.

Bottom line

If you want privacy and security in your VPN then you should seriously consider Anonine. With absolutely no logs kept of your online activity and cryptocurrency payment accepted – it’s a perfect fit. We also experienced some great connection speeds, so if you’re looking for a VPN to cater to P2P or streaming then it’s one of the best out there for you.

It’s not perfect, of course, there are very few features for users to get stuck on and the apps they offer are basic. With the lack of a native app, Mac users will want to look elsewhere. Anonine could also be vastly improved by a greater number of servers available and for a greater range of countries to choose from.

Really, it depends what is most important for you. If you care about privacy and security and you want an easy-to-use VPN for a great price then Anonine is an ideal choice for you.

I can't say anything good about them. I paid for an annual crypto subscription and NOTHING! correspondence with the support for 3 weeks did not give anything except the answer "sorry, but we do not see that this is a transaction on our part." The support answered in the best case after 5-6 hours. more often than not, they did not respond for two days at all. They answered all my proofs that we did not see the translation. I transferred 0.01897505ETH to them! Now it's much more than their annual subscription. In short, they didn't understand anything and stupidly unsubscribed that we didn't see anything! Very disgusting support.. I sincerely do not recommend it, because if something goes wrong, you will not see any services or money!!!
