Just like any other normal person, celebrities long for romance and companionship. It shouldn’t come as a surprise, therefore, that big name actors, singers and other pop culture icons are giving online dating a shot. Since they are always busy shining on the big screen or answering the big questions of journalists, celebrities have even less spare time for traditional dating; so no wonder they are so keen on trying this method. Whether it be Tinder, MillionaireMatch.com or Match.com, you might want to keep your eyes peeled for a celebrity appearing in your recommended list or better yet: your matches!
Knowing which kind of dating site is fitting for you is the key to success. Take Charlie Sheen and Matthew Perry for example. They took the risk of creating a legit dating profile with their own name, but registered on MillionaireMatch.com to avoid gold diggers. Carrie Ann Inaba decided to shake things up a little bit in her love life by romancing Jesse Sloan, a simple accountant. The two met on eHarmony, a platform for a wide and colorful audience. The 43-year old Jenny McCarthy set up an account at Match.com in the hopes of meeting someone between the ages of 35 and 48, since the site is known to be visited by more mature singles.
Lindsay Lohan was among the earliest adopters of Tinder, she even posted an image where she found her brother’s profile. Adam Duritz, frontman of Counting Crows, dipped his fingers in Tinder as well. He initially believed that no one would recognize him, since back in 2014 very few women were looking for 50-year old men. Come on, Adam, this is the internet, nothing stays hidden here. Katie Perry also admitted that she was deeply engaged with the app, but she stopped using her account after starting a relationship with Orlando Bloom.
But Hilary Duff is probably the most crazed over Tinder, as she even featured her profile in the music video “Sparks”. It must be said, though, that not every celebrity loves this form of dating. Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Sam Smith felt that it would ruin romance for him, while singer Ed Sheeran refused to register as he wouldn’t want to exploit celebrity status for a one-night stand.
The popular singer Adele signed up for eHarmony after a tough break up with her ex. However, she was afraid that other members will only court her because she is famous; therefore she decided not to upload any pictures . This proved to be detrimental, since those without a profile photo have no chance of standing out. Rivers Cuomo, singer of the band Weezer, once signed up for an anonymous dating site but to no avail. He concluded that this probably means that no one in the world is appropriate for him, but giving up after the first few rejections is unnecessary; maybe he just needed a better profile picture. There are also celebrities like Orlando Bloom and Ronda Rousey who admitted that they created fake profiles for themselves (Bloom even used his friend’s picture) to test the waters. Since they didn’t disclose any related success stories, the attempt fell flat, which is interesting since both of them are actors.
